For those new to this website:
Tamara Rubin is a multiple-federal-award-winning independent advocate for childhood Lead poisoning prevention and consumer goods safety, and a documentary filmmaker. She is also a mother of Lead-poisoned children (two of her sons were acutely Lead-poisoned in 2005).
- Tamara owns and runs Lead Safe Mama, LLC — a community collaborative woman-owned small business for childhood Lead poisoning prevention and consumer goods safety.
- Since 2009, Tamara has been using XRF technology (a scientific testing method), using the exact instrumentation employed by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to test consumer goods for toxicants (specifically heavy metals — including Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Antimony, and Arsenic).
- Since July of 2022, the work of Lead Safe Mama, LLC has been responsible for 5 product recalls (FDA and CPSC).
- All test results reported on this website are science-based, accurate, and replicable.
- Items reported on are tested multiple times to confirm the test results reported for each component tested.
- Tamara’s work was featured in Consumer Reports Magazine in February of 2023 (March 2023 print edition) and The Guardian in November of 2023.
Friday
December 29, 2023
If Lead Safe Mama, LLC were to pay all of the bills due by the end of this month (a hypothetical siituation — this is something we are unable to do — as we don’t yet have a cushion of reserve funds for the business), we would have an operating deficit for the month of December 2023 of $7,114.90.
As shared before, this deficit is (in large part) because — at the request of Lead Safe Mama community members — we have been removing advertisements from more widely-read (and new!) articles on LeadSafeMama.com in order to make the information we share easier to read. This has impacted our earnings and we need your help making up the difference to cover costs so we can continue testing, reporting, AND publishing ad-free articles.
If you are in a position to help — and if you appreciate the work we do here — please consider making a contribution (in any amount*) in support of this work.
We are NOT a nonprofit (so contributions are not tax-dedcutible) but we are unique community collaborative small business and we depend on community support (as you would support other small businesses with contributions via Patreon, or similar).
*With over 110,000 combined social media followers — including 46,000+ on Instagram, 67,000+ on Facebook (alongside more than 28,500 Facebook group members and over 16,000 Newsletter subscribers) — if even a fraction of Lead Safe Mama community members made just a small contribution (the price of a cup of coffee? Or consider $5, $10, $25, or $50?) we would easily cover Lead Safe Mama, LLC’s operating deficit for December (and close out the year without a negative balance!).
All the ways you can help
(whether simply supporting the work, or contributing financially):
- NO COST TO YOU:
- Share posts and articles from the Lead Safe Mama website on your social media channels this holiday season. Even with removing ads from our top posts and articles, income earned from advertising on the website during the holiday season (through January) has the possibility of earning us 4x the regular amount (4 pennies per page view vs. the more typical one penny per page view). Current earnings for December 2023 have been about 2 cents per page view.
- Before you start any Amazon shopping you are doing, click on a Lead Safe Mama affiliate link (here’s one of those Lead Safe Mama, LLC affiliate links). In this way, we may earn a percentage of what you spend at no extra cost to you. You DO NOT have to buy anything we link to for us to receive a percentage of what you spend!
- Before you start any shopping with Naturepedic or Solidteknics, click on one of our affiliate links and we will receive a percentage of what you spend (15% or 10% contributed back in support of our work, respectively) at no extra cost to you.
- Ways You Can Send $$$… Again, any amount helps. (Please note: Lead Safe Mama, LLC is NOT a nonprofit, so contributions are NOT tax-deductible — just made in support of a good cause, and deeply–appreciated!)

- Venmo: @TamaraERubin (confirm digits: 3182)
- Zelle: 503-702-2708 (Lead Safe Mama, LLC’s Bank of America account)
- PayPal: Lead Safe Mama, LLC (@LeadSafeMama) — PayPal email: Tamara Rubin @ Mac dot com
- All income received through any of these sources is reported as business income to Lead Safe Mama, LLC.
- Hire Tamara! (You could pay now for an event or consultation in 2024 to help us reach our 2023 goals.)
- Hire Tamara for a one-on-one home consultation. More on that here.
- Hire Tamara for a zoom consultation. More on that here.
- Hire Tamara for a community outreach or corporate event. More on that here.
- Hire Tamara to help with a legal case or legal initiative. More on that here.
- Become a Corporate Sponsor of Lead Safe Mama, LLC’s work!
- We have a few corporate sponsorship options and — if you have a business that might benefit from working with us — we would love to discuss these opportunities with you.
- Our Newsletter Sponsorship has one slot remaining — you can learn more about that here.
- Our Website Advertising Sponsorship has three (side-bar) slots remaining — you can learn more about that here!
- Thanks for considering these opportunities!
- Short Term Loan! (This would support the consolidating of some of the debt related to our Federal Civil Rights legal case — more about that here.)
- If possible, a short-term loan (about one year) of any amount between $20,000 and $75,000 would help Lead Safe Mama, LLC consolidate some of the more important debt related to our Federal Civil Rights legal case.
- If someone were to make a loan in this range to Lead Safe Mama, LLC, we would use the funds to pay off several of the smaller interest-free loans that friends and readers made to help cover the costs of our legal battle. In that way, we would no longer have an obligation to a handful of very generous people who have been incredibly patient over the past 7+ years while waiting for this to resolve!
- Given recent earnings of Lead Safe Mama, LLC (specifically earnings due to increased readership on this website), we anticipate we would be able to pay off any loans of this type in 12 to 18 months or less; we would also be happy to pay some amount of (reasonable, low) interest (as that is required [officially] when a loan is made to a business).
- Please contact me personally at Tamara Rubin @ Mac dot com if this is something you might be able to help with.
