There are currently (as of March of 2023) more than 3,500 posts and articles on this website – so please just use the prompts below as a place to start your inquiry. The website menu is also linked via a button at the top of the page and there is a search bar at the top of every single page too. Fewer words in the search bar will get you a broader scope of related posts. The top of each post also has keywords that are clickable (for example “Made In England”) and if you click that keyword you will find many many more posts with that tag! Welcome! Thank you for reading this website. I have put more than fifteen years of my life in to this work (my kiddos were poisoned in 2005.) If you are feeling appreciative for finding resources you could not find elsewhere, please copy a link to one of my posts and share it on your social media channels to help educate your friends – that’s the best way to support this work. Please let me know if you have any questions. I do my best to answer all of them personally but, given the number of people visiting this website each day, realistically I cannot always get to each of them quickly (I apologize in advance!) Thank you for all you do! I am 68 & tossing vintage dishes, toys, books for the sake of the grandchildren. I now realize WE should be tested. What blood test we should ask the doctor for? Just lead isn’t enough right? Are doctors becoming more informed? Thank you!
Hi Sandy-
I’m so glad you are protecting your grandchildren by tossing items containing Lead! When scheduling an appointment with your doctor, you should ask for a venous draw if available. It is the most accurate testing methodology. Hope you all stay well!
I have plain white corningware casseroles (pyroceram). I just bought them in 2019. Are they
lead-free and cadmium-free? Are they unsafe to use for any other reason?
I also have some decorated on the outside white corningware casseroles (also pyroceram). Most I bought in 2019, but one is older – can’t remember how old this one is. Are they safe to use? Thanks so much.
Hey Mary Ann-
Tamara has tested some modern plain white Corningware casserole dishes, like this one that tested negative for Lead, Cadmium, Mercury and Arsenic. https://tamararubin.com/category/corningware/
Not sure what other patterns you have, but here is the “Corningware” category link if you’d like to search: https://tamararubin.com/category/corningware/
Does Vision glass cook ware contain lead? I have contacted Corningware, and no answer. I also asked on Amazon, and no answer. It could be the pandemic and no one working???
Hi Kathy-
Here is Tamara’s “Visionware” category link, including a post explaining why Tamara does not recommend using this cookware. https://tamararubin.com/category/visionware/
Hi. I am wondering if you have any suggestions for at home lead test? And an at home water test (mostly to test water for lead). Any suggestions on a water filter pitcher. Thank you!
Hi Stephani-
Tamara discusses testing water for Lead and other heavy metals in this post: https://tamararubin.com/2018/11/asktamara-how-can-i-test-my-water-for-lead-how-do-i-test-the-water-in-my-home-how-do-i-test-the-water-in-my-kids-school/
& a post about water filters: https://tamararubin.com/2015/12/waterfilters/
I searched for a site search feature, did I miss it?
It sure would be a blessing to better sift through so much awesome information
Thank you for everything
There is a search bar on every page. In desktop mode, on the home page the search bar is on the bottom. On all other pages it is in the right margin. In mobile it is at the top under my logo on all pages. You can also use the menu at the top of every page (which has some of the most relevant overarching posts) or the “Start Here” page which is a guide to some of the more relevant posts and can be found on the home page halfway down (after the “Top posts” section.) Also the “Index” in in the bottom menu and might be a helpful guide.

Hello Tamara, thank you for all of your amazing work. I have a question regarding the safety of titanium and niobium jewelry and more specifically the anodized version (the process that gives it different colors) of the two, I remember you wrote that titanium (cp) is safe but does the same go for niobium, and the anodized version of the two?
Thanks so much!
Hello Lead Safe Mama and community, I am in need of some help and advice and resources. I live in NYC and there was brick and mortar work being done on the facade of my building. The workers did not follow regulations or seal off windows, and red brick and mortar dust got into my unit through a misaligned window in my office. They then power washed the windows from the outside which caused an “acute force event” and the dust to spread, creating a cloud of dust that was pushed throughout room. It is super fine and nearly invisible, if not slightly red. The dust was tested and is off the charts for lead. I’ve never had to deal with this, my landlord is not responding to the need to get my stuff cleaned, and I’m bleeding money as the inspector told me to leave the unit until entire thing was thoroughly cleaned. I am overwhelmed and terrified and 7 years of work and my livelihood was in that office in papers and notebooks. And my I care for my four year old nice twice a week. I have not let her in the unit sine this happened. I’m getting mixed messages from everyone, including city departments. Does anyone have experience with this? Anyone I can speak to about cleaning/mitigating/saving my belongings and myself ? Thank you so much.
Hi Tamara! Can you do a do a trial of stainless steel coffee percolators? French press’s are too time consuming for me at the moment, so I’m looking into percolators to avoid plastic. However, I’m working if they are truly stainless or if there is aluminum or anything else mixed in there. Specifically the Hamilton Beach brand
Hi Tamara,
I was wondering about the Lead content in Copper. Copper in itself is supposed to be really good. I have a Copper deficiency so I got myself a pure 100% Copper vessel to drink out of. I also purchased some lead testing swabs. When testing my Copper they come up Red, which is a sign that they have lead. I am now on the fence of consuming water from them. Copper is supposed to neutralizing and also anti bacterial, so I am wondering if this has an Effekt on the lead content? Any advise would be much appreciated. Thank you.
Hi Tamara,
Are there any clean sea salts you recommend? The brand I’ve been using for years I read on your site contains lead and arsenic now.
Also, my memory is so bad. Could this be heavy metals on the brain. I would like to prevent any further degradation. Do you know of a healthy detox? Thank you for your work!
