October is National Lead Poisoning Prevention Month!
- Are you on Twitter?
- Do you want a chance to win this blender (pictured, aflink: https://amzn.to/3dXpoSy) tomorrow (Tuesday)?
- Are you available to tweet between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m (Eastern Time) tomorrow – October 27, 2020? [If you are not yet on Twitter please join Twitter to support the cause and participate tomorrow for a chance to win!]
- To enter to win please check out the 2020 National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week Twitter party tomorrow and follow the rules below.
This is not a sponsored event!
NOTE: This is a LEAD SAFE MAMA giveaway and is not sponsored by any company nor affiliated with any nonprofit organization or government agency. I have chosen this product to give away as a prize because we have one that we bought for our family and we love it (we use it every day when we are home actually!) I also bought a second one for my son when he was getting set up in his new apartment for college (so he could make smoothies every day and get his fresh fruit in!) I am purchasing this prize for the winner out of my own money and will have it shipped directly to them from Amazon.
One winner will be chosen
- One winner will be chosen out of all eligible participants (with eligibility determined by following the rules noted below.)
- Only one prize is available to be distributed (one blender.)
- After the Twitter party is completed, once eligibility of participants is determined, all eligible participants will be assigned a number starting with 0001.
- If a participant is twice-eligible (per the rules below) they will be assigned two numbers.
- A winning number will be selected from the range of assigned numbers using the website Random.org.
Purpose of the Twitter Party
- The purpose of this Twitter party is to raise awareness about the issue of childhood Lead poisoning.
- If you have a Lead poisoned child it is also an opportunity to voice your grievances about government inaction that resulted in your child being poisoned.
- The #NLPPWChat #NLPPW2020 twitter party (without the Lead Safe Mama hashtags and links) is an event hosted by the National Center for Healthy Housing in Washington, D.C.
- As a result, policy people in Washington, D.C. will be participating in this event and we (Lead Safe Mama and friends) are – in essence – “Twitter Bombing” the event to get them to pay attention to the reality on the ground for parents of Lead poisoned children!
- We are doing this because, all too often, parents of Lead poisoned children are left out of the national conversation for childhood Lead poisoning prevention.
TO PARTICIPATE and be entered for a chance to win please follow ALL of the following SIX rules (+ there’s bonus opportunity in rule #7!).
RULES:
- Follow @LeadSafeMama on Twitter.
- Tweet between 3 and 4 p.m. Eastern Time tomorrow – Tuesday – 10/27/2020.
- Include the hashtag #LeadSafeMama or #LeadSafeMamas or #TeamLeadSafeMama in your tweet. (You can include more than one of these if you have room in your tweet!)
- Include the hashtag #NLPPWChat or #NLPPW2020 (or – ideally – both!) in your tweet. [Very important – so the D.C. policy people see your tweets!]
- In your tweet write about how the issue of childhood lead poisoning has impacted your life OR what you have learned since you started following my work OR something you know about Lead that many others in your life don’t know OR a question you have about Lead or Lead Poisoning or Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention. [Lots of choices for what to write about!]
- Once you have tweeted TWICE following the above rules your name will be entered for one chance to win the Instant Pot brand blender linked above and pictured here.
- To be entered for a SECOND chance to win (so your name will be thrown in the proverbial hat twice) Tweet at least once including a link to a LeadSafeMama.com post (also following the other rules #1. through #5. above.) Choose a Lead Safe Mama post that means something to you and say something about the post to engage others (make sure to use the hashtags above.)

Hi I’m also interested in buying this blender, but it has a CA65 warning, which part contains lead?
Tamara says
Hello Bella,
With this blender I do not believe there is any Lead at all (based on the testing I have done) although I do not do destructive testing (I do not break the thing apart to test the inner workings) with my work. There is – however – Antimony in the power cord, which is typical in all modern plug-in appliances (Antimony has replaced Lead in most electrical cord applications – like Christmas lights and vacuums and kitchen appliances.
