For those new to this website:
Tamara Rubin is a multiple-Federal-award-winning independent advocate for childhood Lead poisoning prevention and consumer goods safety, and a documentary filmmaker. She is also a mother of Lead-poisoned children (two of her sons were acutely Lead-poisoned in 2005). Since 2009, Tamara has been using XRF technology (a scientific method used by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission) to test consumer goods for toxicants (specifically heavy metals — including Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Antimony, and Arsenic). All test results reported on this website are science-based, accurate, and replicable. Items are tested multiple times to confirm the test results for each component tested. Tamara’s work was featured in Consumer Reports Magazine in February of 2023 (March 2023 print edition).

Thank you for checking out these links and for sharing about our work. If you want to learn more about which products have unsafe levels of Lead (or other heavy metals), I recommend starting your inquiry by checking out the Lead Safe Mama website menu. Here’s that link: https://tamararubin.com/website-menu/

I share about these Lead-free choices specifically at the request of Lead Safe Mama readers. We have paid to promote this article to ensure more people see these options. For many of the options listed on Amazon, you can likely find the same items in your local brick-and-mortar stores (sometimes at better prices!). So, it is worth keeping this list (and our other shopping lists) handy when you do your local shopping (at Target or Walmart or similar!). Here’s a link to more lists of Lead-free choices on the Lead Safe Mama website: https://tamararubin.com/category/2023-amazon-picks/.

Thank you for all you do. I enjoy your articles. I just read your email about cutting boards. I use nice cutting boards on my kitchen counters because they’re so ugly lol. My step grandpa built this house about 90 years ago. The countertops haven’t been updated in years. I didn’t know you were using yours for that reason. It brought a smile to my face and I thought I’m not the only one.

Tamara,
Could you check this out?

What about Coolina knives? I have several and now concerned they may have harmful metals after spendi g a couple hour reading all the great info you have. Also what silverware, mixing bowls, and kitchen tools like garlic press, measuring spoons etc do you recommend? I have thousands of dollars of kitchen cookware such as dutch ovens, Pyrex bakeware, dishes, glasses, mugs, electric skillets, crackpots, pans, skillets, mixing bowls, serving bowls, travel mugs, ingredient containers, food storage containers, and much much more I now have to get rid of and replace.

Hi, what about the white keepCup print at the bottom of the cup? Does that contain any questionable ingredients? I tried to search for it on your site but its not coming up
Tamara says
It is lead-free paint.
Hazel says
Hi, on the bread box do you recommend the acacia wood or bamboo?
Tamara says
We purchased the bamboo one – and I line the shelves with a mat, that is easily removable and cleanable. Here’s the link for that (the plain / unfinished ones): https://amzn.to/3AAY6Ry

Hello! I appreciate all of your amazing work. I read in one post that you would never buy lodge but in another post you have lodge cupcake pans as a recommendation of lead free kitchen items to buy. I’m confused. Do you like consider lodge to be lead free or not?
Many thanks!!
