For those new to this website:
Tamara Rubin is a federal-award-winning independent advocate for consumer goods safety and a documentary filmmaker. She is also a mother of Lead-poisoned children, her sons were acutely Lead-poisoned in 2005. Since 2009 Tamara has been using XRF testing (a scientific method used by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission) to test consumer goods for toxicants (specifically heavy metals), including Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Antimony, and Arsenic. All test results reported on this website are science-based, accurate, and replicable. Items are tested multiple times, to confirm the test results for each component. Tamara’s work was featured in Consumer Reports Magazine in February of 2023.

FIVE things to share today …
#1) I will be doing a collaborative community outreach event (free and open to the public) in Vienna, Austria on Sunday — July 2nd (with free consumer goods testing). The flyer for that is above. Please share that info with anyone you know in the area as we would love to have a nice turnout for this event!
#2) Naturepedic’s annual 4th-of-July sale is happening now. If you are in the market for a new mattress (or pillows or sheets!) and are considering Naturepedic, 15% of what you spend will be donated back to Lead Safe Mama, LLC in support of our programs when you start your shopping with one of our affiliate links (here’s a direct affiliate link — or you can click this link to read more about our relationship with Naturepedic). This is funding that helps cover the costs of our free outreach events like the one linked above!
#3) A little update on our #GiveAway, too! We have already announced TWO of our 10 winners (see their entries above!) but there are still EIGHT more chances to win up to $577 in Naturepedic Organic Sheets and Pillows! Our deadline to enter for a chance to win has been extended to July 9th! We hope to be announcing more winners today! If you have not yet entered the #GiveAway (it’s free to enter!), here’s the link with details on how to participate!
#4) Last night I shared FOUR more testing videos — testing consumer goods and housing components in Italy. Those videos are each a minute long or shorter (with captions, too!) and are publicly posted on the Lead Safe Mama Facebook page (link) as well as the Lead Safe Mama Instagram page (link).
#5) Inspired by a typo in an article about our work (back in April of this year), we bought the domain name LeadSafeLlama.com and just created an Instagram page to go with it! Check it out, linked here. Stand by for new things from #LeadSafeLlama (by Lead Safe Mama)!
Thanks for being here.
Have a great holiday. If you haven’t yet read our 4th of July-related posts and articles, here’s the link to that category on the website.

P.S. If you know anyone who has at least $55,000 “to spare”… We’d love to extend our Subway PSA Campaign for another month (through August 6th), but as of this moment it looks like we don’t have any solid lead on additional funding and the campaign will be taken down on July 9th. Alternatively, if you know anyone who is an executive at OutFront, someone we could make a personal request for an extension of the campaign free of charge, please introduce me to them! 🙂
(Extending the current campaign will be about $55,000, while expanding the campaign and extending the current campaign will cost between $110,000 and $120,000 — details here. We are offering advertisement placement on the Lead Safe Mama website for any company interested in supporting this initiative in this way.)
