This piece is a GREAT example of how newly-produced/ newly-manufactured/ newly-sold items DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE ANY LEAD! Even the unglazed white ceramic edge (the circle around the logo on the base pictured above) was non-detect for Lead, etc.

Take that, Pioneer Woman! 😉 If Crate & Barrel can make Lead-free ceramic dishes, why can’t you?

Please do take a moment to read the exact XRF test results for this item so you can see what is in it (in the absence of Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, and Arsenic).

To see more white ceramic items Lead Safe Mama has tested, click HERE. Please note that just because something is WHITE does not mean it is Lead-free — there are several examples of white ceramic items on this site that have, in fact, tested positive for very high levels of Lead (here’s a good example of one: LINK).

As always, please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for reading and sharing these articles.

  1. Hi Tamara,

Do you have any information on the ‘Mercer’ line from Crate and Barrel? (linked below). I’ve been doing some research on lead-free and lead-safe options, and up until this point was leaning towards Libbey glass dinnerware. I’m still drawn to the white modern style but I don’t want to sacrifice safety for visual appeal. The product description on the website states..

“Contemporary porcelain whiteware represents a fusion of refinement and rusticity. Round slim profile takes on organic overtones with freeform rims and a finely “hammered” surface that ripples the light. Smooth enough to not harm tables, the unglazed bottom surface gives each piece an artisanal look.”

I would appreciate any information you might have on this line!

  2. Hi,

I was looking at the Crate and Barrel different Martin Hunt collections – are they all lead-free?

Also, do you if industrial brands, like Steelite, are lead-free?

What would you recommend for baking pans?

    Thank you so much:)

  3. Hi! Any chance you know if the rest of this collection is lead free? I have plates and bowls and my husband likes them a lot and doesn’t want to buy new if we don’t have to. I live in portland too! Do you ever test items for people?

    Thanks!
    Annie

  4. How can I find out if the Marin line is safe or not? It’s one of there top sellers. I have multiple colors. I’m ready to pitch things that are not safe as I have struggled with health issues based on mold and other toxins. Now I need to go through my kitchen to eliminate. Thank you so much for all that you do to help others.

      1. Hi! We have the Marin collection. It was purchased in 2015. If not already done, I’m happy to send some pieces in for testing.
