Hello friends!
This is a very long (and info-packed / dense) update… after having been “off line” for nearly 10 days!
We’ve driven about 2500 miles in the past week, and that’s not even half of what we have going on right now over here at Lead Safe Mama, LLC!
Today is the second day of the official Lead Safe Mama 2026 Cross Country Summer Tour. I am writing to you from Flagstaff, Arizona — our end destination is Boston, Mass (around July 4th).
We’re having informal meet ups along the way during this trip so please do keep an eye out for those / to see if we will be in your area. We don’t currently have any public outreach events planned for this trip, only private meetings with families of lead poisoned children and others in the environmental advocacy community, but the meet ups are a fun, simple, cost-free way for all of us to connect and say hello / talk shop in person!
During this trip I am trying to post daily on Instagram and Facebook (including short videos and progress of our travels), so that is probably the best place to follow if you want to know where we are and where we will be next. Tonight we are headed to Albuquerque and (depending on how the rest of this drive goes today), we may actually be staying in Albuquerque for two nights. We do have a meetup tentatively planned for 6:30 on Friday (tomorrow) in Albuquerque. You may be asking… “how have you managed to put in 2,500 miles when it is only the second day of your tour?” – Well… my son Charlie and I actually left Portland about a week ago and the first several days of our trip were spent being roadies for the music tour my two older sons just completed (a cross-country tour with their band!) as the opening act for the band Haute & Freddy. In other news, the Lead Safe Mama Team has been spending most of our available time recently dealing with legal matters.
Legal Case #1:
The other party in legal case we shared about in May has a deadline of responding to the courts today (Thursday, June 18, 2026). This is a situation in which an individual (through their business channels) has stated (among other things) that their intention is to put us out of business and take over our work / own our website and our business!
I haven’t yet heard from our legal team whether or not a response was filed, but will post an update as soon as I know more.

Legal Case #2
Representatives working with / on behalf of Sky & Sol had filed fraudulent / false copyright violation claims against our articles on all social media platforms (including here on Patreon), trying to get our articles and posts removed – posts and articles highlighting the incredibly significant amount Lead content in the Sky & Sol sunscreen, challenging the manufacturer’s persistent assertions that the Sky & Sol sunscreen is made with “edible” ingredients (noting their newer language is now “edible grade ingredients” – which is not really a separate distinction!).

We prevailed in having our suspended posts restored.
Provoked by their nonsense, we re-tested their product for Summer 2026 (again purchasing it direct from their website and sending it to a third party, independent lab to be tested for Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, & Arsenic) and it again tested positive for an outrageous amount of Lead.
Sky and Sol officially now holds on to their ranking as having the highest level of Lead of all of the sunscreen products we have tested and reported on to date. The only mineral sunscreen that tested positive for more Lead than the Sky & Sol product we tested in 2026 is the same Sky & Sol product we tested in 2025!

Lead Safe Mama, LLC is interested in suing Sky & Sol given their recent actions against us (to try to suppress and even erase our science-backed reporting) and — even more so — given their aggressive stance advertising heavily lead-contaminated products using the word “edible” along with images (videos!) that indicate the product actually is edible. Their product is likely causing harm to many – especially to families who are using it on their young children thinking it is safe even if inadvertently consumed (as is the case with the hand-to-mouth activity of babies). This company has also shared that they made $33,000,000 in one year selling this heavily-Lead-contaminated sunscreen product (proving that slick marketing will make consumers buy anything!):

Legal Case #3
In February we learned that an app is making literally millions of dollars a year off of integrating our freely available (yet copyrighted) lab reports into their app, by charging the public for access to the information we provide for free — while simultaneously misrepresenting and misinterpreting much of the data we have collected through our work!
This company and their employees have entirely ignored that our materials are clearly copyrighted (in addition to being published on our website and containing our name and contact information, we also have a copyright statement on every page of the Lead Safe Mama, LLC website just below each lab report, and even have a copyright statement integrated into the language on our more recent lab reports), and this company / their staff has used AI to scrape our website to collect our materials (without request, without permission, and without compensation).
The irony in all this is that this company (the one stealing our reports) is actually currently being sued by another company for misrepresenting one of our reports (and the data contained within) in their social media posts!!!!
While Lead Safe Mama, LLC is not mentioned in that lawsuit, our lab report is shown as one of the exhibits in the filing and is referenced throughout the legal filing. This factoid is very important as it highlights and reinforces the fact that Lead Safe Mama, LLC never misrepresents the data we uncover through the Lead Safe Mama, LLC Community Collaborative Laboratory Testing Initiative — WE are not being sued for having published that data and discussed it in an article (our articles are always very carefully worded and backed by replicable science – never alarmist), but the makers of this app are being sued, and this documented misrepresentation of our test results for this one product is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the scope of their misrepresentation / misinterpretation of the scientific reports they are stealing (from us and others) and sharing (and often sharing as their own). It’s all very fascinating actually — how AI is being employed by those out to make a quick buck, and how AI is being used to destroy scientific integrity.
I also want to highlight that this company – in stealing our lab reports – is actually stealing from the movement, stealing the work supported and paid for by all of you. They are monetizing the work we have undertaken together – the work we make available to the public for free.
First and foremost, I am very thankful that U.S. copyright law is incredibly protective. Unfortunately in order to have the best access to getting this company to stop what they are doing we now need to file separate copyright filings for each published lab report. This is introducing a new cost of $65.00 per lab report (plus the cost of our team’s time to file these reports). We expect that investing this $65+ per report filed will result in justice being quickly served in this matter (as there are Statutory Damages for copyright violations where copyright filings have been made), yet in the meantime need to raise $3,185 to cover the filing costs for all of our most recently published lab reports.
If you are in a position to help with this — if you can specifically cover the $65.00 filing fee for just one lab report copyright — we would accept this support as a loan to be repaid with the recovery of damages in this case. It’s all too much of course – the Lead Safe Mama Team is getting a bit burned-out on being on “legal watch” 24/7 and are all anxious to get back to spending more time on their “work already in progress” continuing to offer free direct help and support to families of Lead poisoned kids, as we do every day.
MORE IMPORTANT NOTES:
We are working on publishing several new lab reports that have been pending for a time, but have had to prioritize working on these legal cases and wanted to get you this update so you knew all of the other considerations we are managing.
We also sent FIFTEEN products to the lab this week (woot!) and will be sharing more about those shortly (in tomorrow’s update, I expect!)
