For those new to this website:
Tamara Rubin is a multiple-federal-award-winning independent advocate for childhood Lead poisoning prevention and consumer goods safety, and a documentary filmmaker. She is also a mother of Lead-poisoned children (two of her sons were acutely Lead-poisoned in 2005). Since 2009, Tamara has been using XRF technology (a scientific method used by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission) to test consumer goods for toxicants (specifically heavy metals — including Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Antimony, and Arsenic). All test results reported on this website are science-based, accurate, and replicable. Items are tested multiple times to confirm the test results for each component tested. Tamara’s work was featured in Consumer Reports Magazine in February of 2023 (March 2023 print edition).
This was so much fun:I’m going to do it again!
Another Giveaway!
Thursday — February 11, 2021
I am giving away a set of Lead-free dishes as soon as Lead Safe Mama hits 4,000 followers on Instagram. This morning we passed 3,900. Now, since Lead Safe Mama is almost up to 4,000 Instagram followers, I wanted to keep the fun going and do it again! So I am going to give away ANOTHER set of Lead-free dishes (the Corelle service for six pictured below) as soon as Lead Safe Mama reaches 5,000 followers on Instagram!

Dishes I am giving away with this next #Giveaway*
NOT a sponsored #Giveaway
This is NOT a sponsored initiative at all. In fact, I really should HATE Corelle for not making a good proactive public statement in response to my findings of Lead in their vintage (brightly colored) patterned dishware. BUT — in spite of the company’s history — here I depart a bit from my normal course of advice on products made by companies who have historically manufactured Leaded products as I still love Corelle’s simple plain white (Lead-free) basic dishes as a good starting point for families to begin to have a Lead-free kitchen (a great first step on their way toward protecting the children in their lives by having a Lead-free home). As a result, I am buying these dishes to give away to one lucky follower chosen at random (each time I announce one of these giveaways).
I am doing this because I think it will help engage new people in the conversation for childhood Lead poisoning prevention — reaching parents (especially young moms) and grandparents where they “live” (where they spend their time… on Instagram)!
If people respond well to these #giveaways (yay #FreeStuff!) I may make it a regular thing! Thank you for being here. Thank you for reading and for sharing our articles. If you are new here, these are some links with good places to start:
- The “Start Here” article on the Lead Safe Mama dot com
- The testing methodology for all test results reported on on this website.
- A video showing you how to search the site most efficiently, given there are over 2,700 articles and pages here.
- My documentary feature film about childhood Lead poisoning.
Please let me know if you have any questions. With 1.165 Million unique readers in 2020 alone, I am not always able to answer each and every question personally, but I do try.
