I just bought the Corelle botique collection square in vivid white. I noticed that it has the newer logo but the logo is a little raised. The box says 2018 also. I thought I read somewhere that the logo should feel flat and not raised but I can’t find it. Was that for Corelle or were you taking about another brand? Thanks!
Tamara says
Hi Angela,
All of the Corelle logos that I have tested have been Lead-free.

Does this mean that the Corelle dinnerwares with the old logo print that i bought before 2019 are not lead free?
Tamara says
no

Hello, thank you for the article. I am now replacing the Corelle dishes my family has eaten on for decades. Are all the white ones safe? I have bright white and off white and cannot tell the date by the label. Thank you

Hi Tamra first of all I want to thank you for all the wonderful work that you do.
I have the white Correlle dinnerware sets and was looking to add to my collection. I went on the Correlle website and saw the dishes are made of 80% recycled glass. Does this affect the heavy-metal content now? Have you tested the dishes lately?
I’ve only ever bought the dinnerware from Amazon or target so this is the first time I see that they are made of recycled glass. I don’t know when that started or if it’s always been that way.
Tamara says
Hello Leslie!
I haven’t yet tested the ones that are marked “recycled glass” – so I really am not sure (I also doubt that it is post-consumer waste glass, and expect it is recycled pre-consumer waste possibly.)

I contacted Corelle/ Instantbrands and the associate said they are pre consumer recycled I hope this helps.

I don’t know what I’m doing wrong I see the white corell corningware dishes are considered pure but I don’t know if the cups/mugs are safe or not because I can’t find the article on the white dish set that was lead free except the mugs had lead .. so was that the white corningware set that had lead in their mugs/cups

In 2022 the corelle white dishes have a raised paint logo, should we be concerned that this may contain lead? ( I remember from one of your posts you stated that raised paint is often lead paint)
Ali says
Yeah I’m also worried about the recycled glass that Corelle uses to make their products. I was wondering the same thing. Are they lead free and cadmium free now that they are made of up to 80 percent recycled glass? I’m also concerned about the raised logo. You did mention about the raised logo and that it may contain lead. Please clarify for us all here. These are all white plain and embossed Corelli dinner ware sets and individual dishes and bowls. Thanks for all you do.

I have different sets of these dishes!!! Do I throw them in the trash???I have gave them to my Family??

It is not post consumer recycled glass, but from their own plant:
Thank you for reaching out to us, we’re glad to help.
The recycled glass comes from our own manufacturing.

Which makes it extra greenwashing! Lol. I have stopped recommending Corelle – even though they are Lead-free (for the plain white options.)

Why have you stopped recommending Corelle? I just recently came across the information about lead in dishes so have quickly educated myself to feel comfortable with my choice to replace my Winterland Brown and Country Cottage with the Winter Frost White and was intending to make the purchase this week. Are you willing to give me a suggestion for a better choice please? I want to thank you for all the work you’ve done, very impressive body of work!
Tamara says
The new white Corelle is Lead-free. I stopped recommending them because they are aggressively denying the potential health implications from the lead in their vintage pieces.

The Corelle Faenza embossed 1 quart bowl has Propisition 65 warning of lead exposure on the Amazon site that costs $18:00. You said all the white Corelle, embossed and plain white dishes are lead and Cadmium free.
Why would Prop 65 appear as the disclaimer at Amazon? Please clarify. Thank you
Tamara says
I really don’t know why they would have a warning on Amazon – it could be a blanket CYA from the seller.

Thanks for your reply. Update. I contacted Instant Brands, who own Corelle and was told that all their products have Proposition 65 warning on them. I asked why and they sent me the general info about Prop 65. I was told that the all white and embossed dinner ware are all lead free and cadmium free I still don’t get why the Prop 65 warning. Please clarify if you can. Also. I just recently bought embossed and all white Corelle dinner ware. The logos have : 3 dots but my older dinner ware all plain white, the logos only have one dot and some of them the logos have worn off. Are these still lead free and cadmium and other toxins free?

Same for me. I replaced our dishes for white Corelle. They are pre-consumer recycled material, which should be good, right? and the logo is raised, is that ok? I bought Corelle dishes as a gift for my son and his family because it is supposed to be good… now I have doubts…
Tamara says
I don’t have a concern with the preconsumer recycled glass in this case – other than the fact that it is really greenwashing! I mean is it really recycled if it is just the surplus glass from their manufacturing process…. seems like a sketchy distinction in my opinion! Their logos are generally Lead-free.

I also after all the internet research settled on the Corelle Vitrelle winter frost dishes and on the box it states up to 80% pre consumer recycled glass. As this has been your go to, will you be testing the newer versions? Felt I finally made the plunge and now not sure if I should be taking these out of the box quite yet. I have tried to contact them, but haven’t been able to get through.

Hi Tamara, I recently learned of your fabulous website through my daughter who has 4 little children. From 6 years down to 6 months. I’m purging so much of my kitchen dishes. I do have a complete set of Williams Sonoma white pantry dish collection which I bought back in 2016 or 17. Ive been spending hours trying to get direct answers regarding if this collection has lead or not?? Do you have an answer for me??? I’d so appreciate it. Also what about Staub cast iron pots with no glaze on the interior cooking surface??
I’ve only just begun on this lead-free crusade with you. Thank you for all your time, & effort! This is certainly a daunting task and the saddest thing is that we trusted these household names.

Hi Tamara,
Are white embossed Corell dishes (a set of dinner plates, smaller plates and cereal bowls) that say 2022 on the box for sale in a store today in 2024 free from lead and cadmium and all other toxins?
Thanks,
K
