For those new to this website:
Tamara Rubin is a multiple-federal-award-winning independent advocate for childhood Lead poisoning prevention and consumer goods safety, and a documentary filmmaker. She is also a mother of Lead-poisoned children (two of her sons were acutely Lead-poisoned in 2005). Since 2009, Tamara has been using XRF technology (a scientific method used by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission) to test consumer goods for toxicants (specifically heavy metals — including Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Antimony, and Arsenic). All test results reported on this website are science-based, accurate, and replicable. Items are tested multiple times to confirm the test results for each component tested. Tamara’s work was featured in Consumer Reports Magazine in February of 2023 (March 2023 print edition).

Hello friends!
I am so excited to share this moment with you! This past Wednesday, August 28, 2019, my legal team filed the following lawsuit (linked below) suing the State of Oregon (and other named parties including the Oregon DOJ/ Kris Kalanges and Mark Kleyna, the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office/ Sam Leineweber, the Oregon Department of Health and Human Services/ Karen Ertel and Michael Glenn, and the anonymous person who made the original bogus complaint against my work in 2016) in Federal Court (for the multiple civil rights violations against me over the past 3+ years).

The projected timeline for the rest of this case is long. While the current members of my legal team are working primarily on contingency, there will still be some costs on my end (I am covering their expenses for the lawsuit but not their time as my attorneys). A handful of friends have loaned me money to help with my legal fees (both up to this point and for this new phase of the case) — and while the lawsuit provides for these friends to be repaid in full (also for all my outstanding bills with attorneys and bookkeepers to be paid in full for their work on the case), these funds will not be available until the end of a jury trial (which could be two years away).
How you can help…
Given how much my friends have sacrificed and put on the line for me over the past two years, I would love to pay these generous folks back for their support sooner than later, and welcome any of the following:
- Contributions
- Paid work
- Personal loans (to be repaid when my family farm closes escrow)
- Two-year business loans (to be repaid with the outcome of the lawsuit — with interest)
- Or anything that can help me pay back at least a few of these people more immediately
Two links to help out with a contribution (in any amount!) are below, but I am also open to brainstorming about any and all creative ideas people might have to help make this happen (if you have some)!
In short order, I would like to raise $25,000 toward this goal (of paying back friends, getting current with some of the key people working on the lawsuit, and covering other costs related to the case).
Thank you for helping if you can.
Now — cozy up with a cup of coffee, a glass of wine (or a stiff drink!) and enjoy reading the 32 page lawsuit linked below… it’s a real page turner!

Thank you. Thank you so much! I am fighting for all of the advocates out there, not just me. We need to set a precedent so this sort of sort of abuse of power does not happen to others in the future.

This is WONDERFUL! Thank you for standing up to the corruption that has wormed its way into the Oregon government and judicial systems. There are a lot of us out here that have had our Constitutional Rights trampled upon by this state. Go get them!!!!!
