Below are the XRF readings for this commemorative Wizard of Oz mug set.
This set is from Cardew Design North America Inc and was made in 2011 (after the CPSC regulation limiting the amount of lead in items made for use by and marketed to children!)
While the company might argue that this is not an item intended for children (and is, instead, a “collectable”), both the size of the item and the design of the packaging seem to contradict this.
The levels of lead and cadmium found in this product exceed the levels that are considered safe for children.
The amount of lead that is considered unsafe in items intended for use by children is anything 90 ppm lead or higher in the glaze or coating and anything 100 ppm lead or higher in the substrate (the base ceramic in this set.)
The box is made of cardboard and was not tested.
Most interesting to note, the words on the inside of the cup were also positive for lead.
Please scroll down for the exact XRF readings on each of the elements tested.

I want to commend you on your work and thank you! I learned a lot more since that documentary in 1971. Most of all, how many more people are not doing their jobs at these human dish ware companies! It seems the same program is almost everywhere these days! Even the pet bowls etc. This is unacceptable! If I could I would give THEIR paychecks to you who earned them!

Thank you.
