It doesn’t cost you anything extra and helps support this website, allowing me to keep sharing information about childhood lead poisoning prevention (as well as making it possible for me to keep sharing about safe products for your home and family) ... Sharing this information in turn helps families everywhere protect their children from potential environmental toxicity in their homes. I only link to products that are the same as (or very similar to) ones that I either have direct personal experience with in my home or that I have personally tested with an XRF Instrument and found to be lead-safe or lead-free. I am so thankful to have found your website. I was wondering if you have ever checked Glasslock food storage that has members mark on the box. I cannot find any information that says it is lead free. Also, if I purchased the lead detector strips would it show up if I tested the glass. Most of the strips test for paint on walls. Thank you again for all that you have done.

Hi Tanya,
I don’t believe I have tested that brand – sorry to not have more information. New clear glass products (that are not painted or decorated in any way) are generally Lead-free. Here’s my Amazon affiliate link for the Glasslock products: https://amzn.to/2NlPFOv
Home test kits will not generally work on glass, nor on most dishware. Here is my post about that: https://tamararubin.com/2017/02/ask-tamara-q-can-i-test-my-dishes-for-lead-with-a-leadcheck-swab-a-sometimes-but-not-always-click-to-read-more/
Thank you for commenting.

What do you mean by this Tamara? I thought all clear glass had the potential to contain lead?
Barbara says
When you say clear glass products are you referring to the ones that have absolutely no color tint to the glass or are you saying even the ones with a slight green or blueish tint to them are still generally lead free?
For example, the Members Mark Glass lock food storage containers do have a bit of a tint to them but the anchor hocking brand doesn’t.
I would love to know more about the MM brand.

Hi Tamara,
I have this set of Snapware glass food storage containers from Costco. I’m assuming they should be safe based off of this post. Would you mind giving me your opinion?

P.S.
Thank YOU for what you do. I am shopping for our first home (everything will be brand new) and your website is heaven sent. I can’t thank you enough! We would love to support your GoFundMe! 🙂

Does Ello glass containers contain lead? Are they safe? I cannot find any information online about their safety. Thank you so much! Have a beautiful blessed day.

I just bought a Glasslock set from Target (12 piece set), but just noticed there’s a warning on it about DEHP in the lids. Would these still be safe to use?
Kylee says
Yes! I would also like to know whether Glasslock lids are safe to use or not. I was about to buy some, but am hesitating until I find out more about DEHP.
I’m wondering if it’s a case of if you don’t expose the lids to heat then it’s probably okay? Thanks for asking this Katie.
