Introduction (for those new to this website):
Tamara Rubin is a federal-award-winning independent advocate for consumer goods safety and a documentary filmmaker. She is also a mother of Lead-poisoned children, her sons were acutely Lead-poisoned in 2005. Since 2009 Tamara has been using XRF testing (a scientific method used by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission) to test consumer goods for toxicants (specifically heavy metals), including Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Antimony, and Arsenic. All test results reported on this website are science-based, accurate, and replicable. Items are tested multiple times, to confirm the test results for each component. Tamara’s work was featured in Consumer Reports Magazine in February of 2023.
#LeadFree: LifeFactory Baby Bottle. All factory parts are also negative for Cd, As, & Hg. All of the colors and all sizes of these bottles that I have tested have been the same (Pb, Cd, As, and Hg free in all factory parts). I do not know the vendor of the nipple on this particular bottle that I tested and I have not tested nipples with other similar bottles.

Is that the life factory nipple that tested for cadmium? The nipple that came with the bottle?
Tamara says
I don’t think it is the same one that came with the bottle, although I’m not sure.

Hi Tamara,
Thank you for all that you do. I was just wondering if you have tested all parts of Lifefactory 12-Ounce BPA-Free Glass Water Bottle with Straw Cap & Silicone Sleeve and confirmed to be free of Lead and cadmium? Thanks!
Susan says
Have you tested or do you have thoughts on the life factory stainless sippy cups for toddlers? I was disappointed they didn’t have glass options for toddlers and the stainless part is made in China.

Dear Tamara,
This work is so appreciated! On a similar note, what are your thoughts on electric bottle sterilizer and bottle warmer? Typically I try to stick to traditional methods because electric stuff tends to have contaminants. But in this case, any help to make things faster and efficient would be a life saver!

Hi:
Have you tested these bottles recently? I’m confused. In the baby bottle post you say there’s trace cadmium but here you say the bottle is negative for all? I recently purchased these off of your recommendations so I want to make sure they are safe for my son. Have you recently tested them?
Tamara says
The image has a nipple. There is an arrow pointing to the nipple with the Cadmium level. There is no “life factory” branding on the nipple so I could not say either way if the nipple was from life factory or not. Most silicone nipples test positive for trace cadmium. The only marking on this nipple is “Made in France”.

Thank you so much for the reply. I saw it right after I hit submit. I hope I can find a natural rubber nipple for this bottle.

I double checked the life factory nipple they came with my bottles and it says the same. I hope the natursutten nature rubber nipple will fit these bottles.
Alondra says
Hey! Did those nipples ever fit the life factory bottles? Trying to find a safe glass bottle that I could get a natural rubber nipple for.
Mariana says
Hi Anna, Did you find out if the natursuttem nature rubber nipple fit these bottles?
