Hey Tamara, what did you do for work before your kids were poisoned?

Hi friends!
The question comes up (every now and then) – “Hey Tamara, what did you do for work before your kids were poisoned?” I typically write out a quick summary about this and do share about this piece of our past quite often – however my husband – Len – just recently found some new fun paperwork in our archives which includes key elements of our personal story and I wanted to share that here with you.
While I continue to support Avi in his transition to school in the UK this year, Len has stayed home (we’ve been apart for more than three months now!) as he is working on fixing up the house and getting rid of stuff that we don’t need (stuff we wouldn’t want to bring with us) if we end up moving to be closer to our kids long-term (a plan we have been considering for a very long time, but have not yet had the resources to go ahead with).
Part of what Len has been doing this past week is going through old paperwork to slim down our files to only contain paperwork we might absolutely need at some point in the future. In this process he found two fun pieces of our work history that I though you might also find interesting….
1) our client newsletter sent out in the Winter of 2002 (so just about 24 years ago!), and
2) an ad we ran in the paper for our business sometime between 2003 and 2005.
Each of these documents are below, I hope you have as much fun seeing this glimpse of our past as I did! The Lead Safe Mama, LLC chapter of my life is a definite departure (in many ways) from the chapter shown below – however I continue to use all the skills and knowledge-base from my past work in my current work (on a daily basis!)
One never knows in advance the twists and turns your life may take and it is always fascinating to look back on where you came from and how your life has changed over years (and in this case – over decades!)
Please feel free to comment below if you have any questions. I am especially curious to know what bits and pieces shared in this newsletter are #FunFacts about my history that you were not yet aware of!
And with that, thanks for being here everyone!
Here’s to the current chapter!
Yours, in science….

Ways you can contribute in support of the work of Lead Safe Mama, LLC
Today – November 7, 2026 – Lead Safe Mama, LLC is working to raise $1,650.00 to cover critical operating costs for our work this month. We also still need to raise over $20,000.00 to cover legal fees that are due.
If you are financially in a position to make a contribution in support of our work, please do so (any amount helps!) Ways to send financial support are below. Thank you in advance for any support you are able to send.
Separately If you might know someone who is in a position to make a substantial short-term loan — specifically to help with our legal costs as we wind our way through the court system towards an end goal of justice being served against corporate bad actors attempting to destroy the reach and impact of our consumer goods safety advocacy work — please have them be in touch as well. My cell is 415-609-3182 — notably the same number shown in my newsletter below, from 24 years ago! — (texting is always best, thank you).

FunFacts: Our landline phone number was chosen because it worked out to 503-BUS-BIKE (as my husband was then – as he continues to do today – working on developing his titanium folding bike as one of his projects!) Our home (and home office) at the time was in the neighborhood of Irvington in Portland, Oregon. This is the neighborhood (and home) where our children were acutely Lead-poisoned.
