UPDATE: It is unclear if this is a legitimate brand or not. When I was first told about the product I was told it was from France. With some google searching, I just found a listing for the product noting it is “Made in China” and have not been able to find any information about the company name (PEGCIZ) or whether the product actually contains fluoride or not. It would appear this product is possibly sold in fluoride-free and low-fluoride versions (in multiple flavors). If you have more information about this product (and whether-or-not PEGCIZ is a legitimate brand), please leave a comment below (here on this article). Thank you! The image directly below is a photo of the packaging from this product, which reads “Paris, France” as the distribution company (I have also found the product listed on more than one French website selling natural products/ personal care products):

On the flip side… this is one of FIVE safer choices for toothpaste we have now discovered through the community-collaborative/ community-funded laboratory testing initiative Lead Safe Mama, LLC is coordinating. Here’s our link for this product (that tested non-detect for Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, and Arsenic with the limits of detection noted below): https://amzn.to/4lF7RB7 — NOTE: The test results shown below only indicate the toxicant profile for the specific product shown. We only sent the Watermelon flavor of this product to the lab for testing. Given the primary ingredient difference for the blueberry product is the flavor, it is likely it will test similarly to the watermelon but we have not tested that flavor.

The full lab report for this product is at the bottom of this article.

As far as safer choices for foods, supplements, and cosmetics go (including toothpastes), we have a few lists on our food and supplement testing landing page (linked here) that you may find helpful in making safer choices for your family. We even have one dedicated to safer snack choices here. You may also find this link helpful as it takes you to our most recently updated safer choices list of 50 lab-tested safer foods, cosmetics and supplements!

Here’s the link to our landing page with ALL of the lab reports for the independent, third-party, laboratory testing Lead Safe Mama, LLC has coordinated since March of 2024 — this is also a good page to bookmark and check back on periodically (it is also always pinned at the top of the website’s Menu via the button graphic below, and the Menu can be found at the top of every page on this site).

Please check out our open/ not-yet-funded campaigns on GoFundMe if you would like to support some of our additional independent, crowd-funded, third-party laboratory testing. Thank you!

Are you interested in seeing MORE safer choices?

Below is an expanding list of products (foods, supplements, cosmetics, and personal care items) that tested “non-detect” for Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, and Arsenic with independent, third-party, community-funded laboratory testing coordinated by Lead Safe Mama, LLC (an Oregon-based small business with a unique community-collaborative business model and a focus on consumer goods safety and childhood Lead poisoning prevention). The product examples below clearly demonstrate that companies can manufacture safer choices (at least from the perspective of a concern for heavy metals contamination).

The limits of detection (low-threshold of detection) for each of the metals tested are noted in the lab report for the specific product listed. To see the full original lab report for any of these products, type the brand name into the search bar at the top of any page on Lead Safe Mama dot com (and scroll down to the bottom of the related article). All our published lab reports are also linked here, on our lab testing landing page.

Flavors (or specific variations) tested are noted, and other flavors of the same product (or other products from the same brand) have either not been tested or have been tested but did not yield similar results. Test results only apply to the specific products linked below.

Products on our “safer choices” list are retested periodically (annually or more frequently, as funding permits). If a product no longer tests clean, it is removed from the list.

  1. This is great! Although I hope we can find a more well known flouride toothpaste as I like to have both on hand for my young son. Thank you very much! Nice to have multiple fluoride free options now!

  2. The link takes you to a different branded product on Amazon. It looks similar but is under a different brand name.

  3. When I look up Terra Distribution I find a import company specializing in importing African products they are located in Paris, France. I also find this brand of toothpaste on sites from Egypt and Ireland. I believe it is a legitimate company.

  4. I ordered (US) from the amazon link and the bottle I received is distributed from Fullmart Inc. 317 Edgewater Dr. Orlando, FL 32804. It then shows the UK & EC Rep as Fullmart (info@fullmart.biz) Made in China.

Ingredients: Water, glycerin, sorbitol, sodium lauroyl sarcosinate, sodium lauroyl glutamate, xylitol, dipotassium glycyrhizinate, allantoin, vitamin C, sodiu, phyate, acesulfame, sodium benzoate, natural mint brain, watermelon extract.

Should we consider this safe to use? It does not say France.

    1. This definitely looks like a Chinese product. Not at all what I was expecting. I’m not sure the affiliate like is for the same exact product that was tested. It says sold by Shenchen …. A Chinese company…

  5. Going to pass on this one, listing looks super sketchy. The brand name PEGCIZ has been removed. It is now sold by “shenzhenshifeikoushengwukejiyouxiangongsi” and it supposedly contains “natyral mint brain” lol. I know your focus is on heavy metals but there are other contaminants which this weird product may contain.

    1. Yes. Plus it’s “day free”.

I don’t consider it legitimate. $30 down the drain.

      1. Did you buy the original from the link? Amazon sometimes swaps things out – which is one more reason to hate Amazon.

  6. Yes. Go to the link you posted for the product. The pictures clearly show the typos and “day free”. I should have looked closer.

Do you think you’ll be testing popular brands like crest for kids, soon? Thanks

    1. Ah – it sounds like Amazon may have swapped out the product for a dupe in your area at least, I will see if I can find a better link and switch it.

We did test crest for kids – and many other popular brands. Here’s the chart with all of the results listed (this is a page that is updated periodically and will be updated again today). Links to the lab reports that have already been published are listed below the chart. The safer choices we have found are all linked on the chart. Here’s the chart link:
      https://tamararubin.com/2025/01/toothpaste-chart/

This is the toothpaste that I am currently using (tested non-detect across the board): https://amzn.to/4lARZ2J – aflink

  7. This is NOT a legitimate company. The page is just off with multiple red flags. They seem to also be selling a lot of weird products.

    https://linktr.ee/pegcizshop

I think they don’t have lead as they don’t have much more than water and some soapy material in the can.
