For those new to the Lead Safe Mama website:
Tamara Rubin is a multiple-federal-award-winning independent advocate for childhood Lead poisoning prevention and consumer goods safety, and a documentary filmmaker. She is also a mother of Lead-poisoned children (two of her four sons were acutely Lead-poisoned in 2005).
- Tamara owns and runs Lead Safe Mama, LLC — a unique community collaborative woman-owned small business for childhood Lead poisoning prevention and consumer goods safety.
- Since 2009, Tamara has been conducting XRF testing (a scientific testing method) using the exact instrumentation employed by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to test consumer goods for toxicants (specifically heavy metals — including Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Antimony, and Arsenic).
- Since July of 2022, the work of Lead Safe Mama, LLC has been responsible for 5 product recalls (FDA and CPSC).
- All test results reported on this website are science-based, accurate, and replicable.
- Items that Lead Safe Mama, LLC reports on are tested multiple times to confirm the results published (for each component tested).
- Recent notable press… There has been too much to mention already in 2024! Please check out our press page to see some of the amazing coverage of our work so far this year!

The exact products shown (OR similar products from the same brand) have been repeatedly tested by Lead Safe Mama, LLC (using XRF technology) and have consistently been found to be Lead-free. In our opinion, the companies featured on these pages have behaved ethically and responsibly when it comes to toxicant concerns and manufacturing considerations.
Baby Bottle note: Most of the bottles recommended below are glass. Some selections are plastic. As you would with any purchase, please read the full product description (and product reviews) when you click through BEFORE making your purchase decision. Both glass and plastic options from these brands should be Lead-free (based on our experience testing examples of bottles from these brands across multiple years).

Hi all — the direct link to the Lead Safe Mama Baby Bottle Guide is below. Please look up your baby’s bottles there and let me know if you don’t see your brand (we have XRF test results for dozens of different bottles on the Lead Safe Mama website — testing for Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Arsenic, and Antimony): https://tamararubin.com/lead-safe-mama-baby-bottle-guide/.
- Below are Lead Safe Mama, LLC’s top choices for Lead-free bottles (it’s amazing that this is even a category of products we need to recommend in 2024)!
- Amazon prices are current as of February 22, 2024.
- For bottle-fed babies, we encourage choosing natural rubber nipples whenever possible (as long as the baby will take them/ does not have any allergies to natural rubber).
- For full test results for baby bottles from each of the brands below, please look at the baby bottle guide (linked above).
- Some Lead-free bottles may test positive for traces of Antimony and/or Cadmium in the glass and/or the silicone components.

Hi Tamara, thank you for your precious work, I can’t wait to see your findings on the MAM bottle/s, I did contact them on December ’23 and they told me the following: “We can confirm that printing inks used in the production of MAM final products do not contain Lead. In addition, MAM baby bottle products are in compliance with the European Standard EN 14350 for baby bottles and 10/2011 Food Contact Regulation including requirements related to heavy metals such as Lead, which is proved by testing at external accredited laboratories”
I have got the multicolour starter set + the one you have in your article and cannot wait to read your reports on this. Thank you
