For those new to this website:
Tamara Rubin is a federal-award-winning independent advocate for consumer goods safety and a documentary filmmaker. She is also a mother of Lead-poisoned children, her sons were acutely Lead-poisoned in 2005. Since 2009 Tamara has been using XRF testing (a scientific method used by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission) to test consumer goods for toxicants (specifically heavy metals), including Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Antimony, and Arsenic. All test results reported on this website are science-based, accurate, and replicable. Items are tested multiple times, to confirm the test results for each component. Tamara’s work was featured in Consumer Reports Magazine in February of 2023.
Please join my family for a celebration on July 15th if you are in Portland!

Hello All!
It’s that time of year again! All four Rubin Brothers (my four sons who are 14, 18, 20, and 26 years old this week… and later this month will be 15, 18, 21, and 27!) are going to be back home performing in Portland! If you are local here in Oregon (or if you are visiting here this week) we would LOVE to see you at our annual summer gathering. This year their performance is at the Mississippi Ave Street Fair (Mississippi Pizza Stage) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 15th (which also happens to be Charlie’s 15th birthday!). Click the image above for more details.
On other fronts… I caused a bit of a stir on social media yesterday with my posts related to Amazon Prime Day (people who had not read my original Stanley Quencher article carefully were surprised to learn that it was suspected to test positive for Lead and later confirmed to test positive for Lead!). You can see that article (and three others) from Amazon Prime Day (a day late, but perhaps still of interest!) by loading remote content and clicking any of the linked related images below. Lead Safe Mama, LLC’s Amazon affiliate earnings for 7/12/23 were: $179.17 (Thank you for starting your Amazon shopping with a click on a Lead Safe Mama, LLC affiliate link!)
Since so many people seem to be curious — please stand by (sometime soon) for an article discussing how and why it was less expensive for me to spend nearly 2-1/2 months traveling in Europe (doing volunteer advocacy work — including XRF Testing) than it would have been to stay home with my boys during that time (while doing paid gigs here in the U.S.). This is also the reason we are headed back to Europe (likely for six months!) starting in November, too! If you live in Germany, Austria, Scotland, England, Sweden, Norway, or other areas in that “general vicinity” and would like to work together with me to put together an outreach event (with free consumer goods testing) for your community this winter, please do be in touch!
Thank you!

Hi Tamara!
If you need a place to stay in Sweden, let me know! Very close to Copenhagen.
Remember that there are restrictions about how long a person from USA can stay in Europe/how long you must be out of EU.

Thank you! Yes… that’s why we’re focusing on staying in the UK with brief trips elsewhere (since that appears to be the best opportunity- that or staying in France!)
