The story behind this:
I am dead-broke ($300,000 in debt actually, with my ongoing Federal Civil Rights legal battle — which is currently in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals waiting for a panel of judges to rule on whether or not we will be allowed our right to a jury trial in the matter) so I am NOT buying ANYTHING “just because it is Amazon Prime Day…”
… BUT after nearly 2.5 months away from home with very few possessions with me the entire time (the bulk of my luggage allowance was my XRF instrument!), I realized that the shorts I chose to buy last year (and therefore bring with me on my trip) were completely inadequate because the pockets sucked for actually carrying anything. As a result, I ended up wearing my only pair of LONG PANTS nearly every day of my trip — except on “wash day,” when I wore the crappy shorts — (in spite of the sweltering heat on many days this past month). Good pockets are EVERYTHING when traveling light — especially when traveling with disabled children!
So with the small amount of funds I have left available on my credit card right now, I decided to buy these shorts today — not because it is “Prime Day” but because I needed them anyway! These are the “shorts” version of my favorite long pants… because of… pockets! Since this will likely be my only Amazon purchase today, (and since they are currently listed as 40% off for Prime Day) I thought I would also share this affiliate link with you for Amazon Prime Day (in addition to the butt-wipe link shared earlier!) https://amzn.to/43rDJPk.
Reminder: You don’t need to buy what we link to for Lead Safe Mama, LLC to receive a percentage of what you spend (in support of our programs for childhood Lead poisoning prevention and consumer goods safety), at no extra cost to you. You simply need to start ANY Amazon shopping you are going to do (on any day — not just today) with a click on one of our affiliate links (and then go about your Amazon shopping as you normally would). We typically receive between 2 to 4% of what you spend.
Thank you for supporting this important work in this simple and free way! Yesterday your clicks on our Amazon links earned us $171.17!

Serious question. If you’re so in debt, how do you take these vacations overseas frequently? Just curious…
Tamara says
Hi! They are primarily advocacy trips – not vacations 🙂 I desperately need a vacation – lol! Our costs when traveling are far below the costs of staying home, plus they are typically sponsored (at least partially) by hosts / partners for outreach events helping to cover costs, etc. I’m working on writing up an article with more details.

LOVE YOUR WORK!!!
Thank you for all you do … My 3 daughters and others know about you now and are aware of so much..
wondering why we cannot set up a GOFUNDME page for you as you have a legit reason to be on there.
I also liked how you have asked for donations before so that others can donate too, You are worth it in every sense.
Happy you got away as you needed a break. Looking forward to more info!!

Thank you so much for commenting! I do have an ongoing Go-Fund-Me for help with the legal fund and other related costs for my advocacy. Thanks for asking about that:
