Lead Safe Mama readers told me KitchenAid indicated they were “lawyering up” so I created a series of videos in response….
December 12, 2022 – Monday
These videos are pretty self explanatory. They were made in response to comments from multiple Lead Safe Mama readers that KitchenAid had indicated they were referring this matter to their legal team. I am posting them below in the order that I posted them on Instagram… hopefully for a bit of amusement. Enjoy! (and check out the versions on Instagram directly if you want to see all the comments from readers!)
Here’s the text I shared with these videos:

We currently have about $20,000 in legal fees we are working to cover (& this is the main reason this work does not pay for itself!) Lead Safe Mama, LLC is a Woman Owned Small Business with a unique community collaborative business model (readers direct what we test and help pay for the cost of the work, including the testing.) We are not a nonprofit so your contributions are not tax deductible – just very much appreciated and sorely needed!

This morning, Jan. 24, 2023, I contacted Kitchenaid in Michigan. After a lengthy call, I accepted the stainless flat paddle as a “courtesy”. I called Kitchenaid (Tennessee & was on hold fo over an hour.) again this afternoon, voicing my concerns about the lead contamination to my grand and great grandchildren. They will not include the stainless dough hook as a greater courtesy. I’m still considering sending the mixer to a local recycler that deals with lead contamination. By-the-way, the stainless paddle should arrive here is 6 to 8 wks.
How can I teach my grand & great grandchildren dough baking skills without a safe dough hook?
