Coming to you today from Athens, Georgia
Hello all!
I got an exciting Instagram message last night. A reporter from the Daily Mail wants to write a piece about my work testing the Royal Doulton Bunnykins children’s dishes. In response to her inquiry, I spent most of last night and this morning updating and reworking the article above (to make sure the resource is as comprehensive as possible for the reporter). Please load remote content for this email and read that article — share it with anyone you know who might own a set of these dishes from their childhood. These dishes should NEVER be used for food-use purposes and they should, in fact, be considered quite dangerous.
The funny thing is that just yesterday (on our road-trip south) I was chatting with the kids about the “new” Mary Poppins movie — and how it makes me sick that Disney glamorized a toxic brand of dishes in that film. Even though it’s the Daily Mail (and not something with a more stellar reputation like the New York Times), I am truly excited for this issue to get some coverage in England and I am hoping the company will respond proactively to the coverage (issuing a formal warning or recall — in the best case scenario of responses).
Separately, I wanted to take a moment to remind you that the Naturepedic Labor Day sale is happening. They are having a 20% off sale and if you start with a Lead Safe Mama link (see below), they will contribute 15% of what you spend to Lead Safe Mama, LLC in support of our childhood Lead poisoning prevention advocacy work. The two articles below have links to the exact Naturepedic mattresses that we have in our home.
Finally, the last image below is a bit of an update on our journey (yesterday was a FOUR STATE day — Virginia, Tennesee, North Carolina and Georgia!) and a reminder that we would love to put together the resources to buy (or otherwise acquire) a true “Lead Safe Mama Mobile” to facilitate our work helping families around the country in-person (which we do three to four months out of every year, as we are doing this month and in October)! Thanks for being here! Please don’t forget to share the Bunnykins article in your parent networks!
