November 4, 2008

Wow. Back then…

  • … I had no idea that just 11 years later (in 2019) I would have 1.9 million readers on my website (with over 3.8 million page views), from over 200 countries — In. A. Single. Year!
  • … I had no idea I would be running an online discussion group and forum for parents of Lead-poisoned children, with nearly 10,000 members in 2020!
  • … I had no idea what Facebook was (I didn’t join until the summer of 2009) — so I definitely had no idea I would have over 30,000 Facebook followers on my Facebook page! And nearly 5,000 Facebook “friends” on my personal page!
  • … I also had absolutely no idea that in the year 2020, I would have nearly 2,600 articles and pages here on my site, with resources and information for families! (All content that has been driven by families’ requests for help, information, and resources.)
  • … and I had no idea that as of this year (2020), I would have a mailing list with nearly 4,000 regular subscribers — with new subscribers joining every single day!

I guess I met the goals I stated that day in that very first brief piece, nearly 12 years ago! Sometimes it is reassuring to look back and see how far you’ve come (and in what time frame you made that happen). Thanks for being here, being a part of this journey, and helping make it all happen!

For those new to this website:

Tamara Rubin is a multiple-federal-award-winning independent advocate for childhood Lead poisoning prevention and consumer goods safety, and a documentary filmmaker. She is also a mother of Lead-poisoned children (two of her sons were acutely Lead-poisoned in 2005). Since 2009, Tamara has been using XRF technology (a scientific method used by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission) to test consumer goods for toxicants (specifically heavy metals — including Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Antimony, and Arsenic). All test results reported on this website are science-based, accurate, and replicable. Items are tested multiple times to confirm the test results for each component tested. Tamara’s work was featured in Consumer Reports Magazine in February 2023 (March 2023 print edition).
