Thanks so much for being here! I am writing now to mark this day as another little milestone on the path toward possibly seeing some recovery (here in one tiny corner of the world – just for Lead Safe Mama, LLC) from the impact of this unprecedented, unimaginable “perfect storm” we have all found ourselves in (a raging global pandemic + massive economic upheaval, job losses and bitter political divisions fanning the flames of long-simmering racial tensions boiling over into mass protests and riots, and sweeping social unrest and general chaos here in the U.S. and abroad)!
The multiple crises and urgent disruption this complicated time has caused in all of our lives have had a dramatic impact on the historic “normal” patterns of web traffic – which is the primary metric to help us measure the reach (and successes and growth) of the Lead Safe Mama team’s Lead poisoning prevention advocacy work. Said another way, the readership on this site dramatically tanked since CoViD-19 took over the world’s consciousness and bandwidth for processing health concerns. See more specifics at this link!
But TODAY (June 24, 2020), I can say that it looks like we may be seeing some continued movement in the direction of “normal” (or perhaps towards a “new normal” if not the previous normal!), and possibly toward better times not so far ahead in the future. The primary specific metric by which I can assess if things are going “back to normal” is by watching daily unique page views here at LeadSafeMama.com. Unique page views here on this site have been slowly increasing each week (since the initial crash in March), and today we had the most views ever since CoViD-19 began flooding the news cycles (with more than 7,000 views at 11:28 p.m.)! Updated to add: we closed out the day with a total of 7,179 page views!
For a little bit of context…
Prior to CoViD-19 taking over the internet, this website had an average of 19,480 views a day in January 2020 and an average of 12,118 views a day in February 2020. Overall in 2019, the site had an average of 10,485 unique views each day. Traffic here tanked down to about 2,000 to 3,000 views a day by mid-to-late-March (when I first wrote about the impact of CoViD-19 on the site), which was very unexpected. So now with over 7,000 views today, (and the average daily site views this month back up quite a bit, to 8,623 for the year…) we’re inching back to where things were last year (phew)!
Thank you so much for being here! I couldn’t do the work I do without YOUR participation – my readers, giving me feedback, asking questions, helping to fund and direct the testing we do, and supporting this work in general by sharing the posts from the Lead Safe Mama website.
Thank you. Please, stay safe out there.
