When tested with an XRF instrument, this newly-purchased (2019) Miniso simple ceramic mug (in “fashionable” purple) had the following readings:
Purple exterior glaze:
- Lead (Pb): 99 +/- 22 ppm
- Barium (Ba): 1,056 +/ 92 ppm
- TIn (Sn): 903 +/- 49 ppm
- Zinc (Zn): 5,914 +/- 251 ppm
- Copper (Cu): 320 +/- 62 ppm
- Iron (Fe): 856 +/- 201 ppm
- Bismuth (Bi): 66 +/- 21 ppm
- Vanadium (V): 1,923 +/- 117 ppm
- Titanium (Ti): 3,923 +/- 225 ppm

This mug definitely falls in the “Lead-Safe” category of products, just not quite 100% Lead-free. Darn! Still looking for the elusive completely Lead-free purple glazed ceramic mug! (My new quest!) I was happy to see that the white interior of the mug did test 100% Lead-free. If you served me coffee in this mug when visiting your home, I would feel comfortable drinking from it (although, given I have a 100% Lead-free stand for my own kitchen, just on principle, I probably would not choose to have a full set of these in my kitchen.)
That said, I really love this store (Miniso!) — it’s like an Ikea just for small things, and it looks like MOST of the things in the store seem likely to be Lead-free! I will be posting more from this store soon.
As always thank you for reading and for sharing my posts.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
