Kleynimals is a woman-owned small business that makes products here at home in the United States. They have a really fun line of high quality Stainless Steel products for babies and young children and I encourage you to check out everything they have to offer on their website. Some of their products are available on Amazon – but – if you are interested in their products it is better for the company if you can buy directly from the company’s website (especially given the impacts of the pandemic on small businesses).

Kleynimals’ products include:

  1. Toy baby “keys” made of real metal (because your baby ALWAYS wants to play with your house keys – which are high-Lead and should never be given to young children to play with – read more about that here!)
  2. Heirloom quality baby silverware sets for the new babies in your life who are just learning to feed themselves,
  3. And the Kleynimals “Jangles” fidget toy – the subject of this post with the XRF test results listed below.

Continue reading below the images of products from Kleynimals.

When tested with an XRF instrument, the Kleynimals brand “Jangles” toy (their non-toxic answer to the fidget spinner – pictured at the very top and bottom of ths post) had the following readings:

Test Results For Ring Components Of Jangles:
304 Stainless Steel

  • Lead (Pb): Non-detect / Negative
  • Cadmium (Cd): Non-detect / Negative
  • Mercury (Hg): Non-detect / Negative
  • Arsenic (As): Non-detect / Negative
  • Chromium (Cr): 148,300 +/- 7,700 ppm
  • Tin (Sn): 143 +/- 56 ppm
  • Copper (Cu): 3,656 +/- 532 ppm
  • Nickel (Ni): 96,200 +/- 2,800 ppm
  • Iron (Fe): 729,000 +/- 5,600 ppm
  • Molybdenum (Mo): 3,784 +/- 203 ppm
  • Manganese (Mn): 16,700 +/- 1,400 ppm

Test Results For Spacer Bead Components Of Jangles:
304 Stainless Steel

  • Lead (Pb): Non-detect / Negative
  • Cadmium (Cd): Non-detect / Negative
  • Mercury (Hg): Non-detect / Negative
  • Arsenic (As): Non-detect / Negative
  • Chromium (Cr): 180,300 +/- 1,800 ppm
  • Tin (Sn): 155 +/- 65 ppm
  • Copper (Cu): 3,855 +/- 588 ppm
  • Nickel (Ni): 87,900 +/- 1,900 ppm
  • Iron (Fe): 705,700 +/- 3,100 ppm
  • Molybdenum (Mo): 3,468 +/- 191 ppm
  • Manganese (Mn): 13,800 +/- 1,400 ppm

Notes

  • All components were tested and each test was done for a minimum of 60 seconds (one minute).
  • Components are tested multiple times to confirm the results.
  • Results are science-based and replicable.
  • Neither of the components (the beads or the rings of the Jangles) fill up the entire testing window of the XRF so results may vary slightly with each test (to a greater degree than one can expect results to typically vary with a larger item with a flat surface of contiguous material).
  • The test results sets above are each typical for 304 stainless steel [a high-grade stainless alloy used in cooking pots and other applications for food use].
  • The main alloying metals in 304 stainless steel are Chromium, Nickel and Copper, in the ratios instantiated by this test result set.
  • You can read more about stainless steel in this post  – link.

Products from Kleynimals are among my favorite gifts for kiddos of most ages

My younger two [special needs] sons especially LOVE the Jangles toy. When Charlie (who was 10 years old at the time) looked over my shoulder and saw I was writing this post he exclaimed – “OH I LOVE THOSE!!!! Where’s my set!!!???”  [He had misplaced them and then spent the next hour searching the house until he found them!] He carries them everywhere with him and takes them on flights as a fidget too (anytime we travel.) They fit on his arm like a bracelet and he likes to roll them up and down his arm as a sensory / soothing activity, but it doesn’t feel or seem like a baby toy to him (it’s like a hidden fidget in a cool bracelet for kids who have hands small enough to use it that way!)

15% Discount for Lead Safe Mama readers!

As a #Bonus!, Kleynimals is also offering a 15% discount* to #LeadSafeMama readers with the code “leadsafemama“. Again, not only are all of their products Lead-free, but they are also made in America by a woman-owned small business (#Win #Win #Win.) You can buy their products directly from the Kleynimals website: link here, or from Amazon (link here – but the discount code will not work on Amazon.)

Disclosure:

Kleynimals has been a sponsor of this website in previous years (but no longer is – I’m just personal friends with the owner and love her business and she loves what I do – so we try to share about each other’s work whenever we can) and as a benefit of their previous sponsorship (in 2019) I offered to test each of their products using XRF technology and report the test results here on my blog. As with all of the testing that I report here on my blog, each set of test results is a full set from one test (not an average of multiple tests.) Tests were all done multiple times to confirm the levels in the one set of reported results is accurate.

As always, thank you for reading and for sharing my posts. Please let me know if you have any questions. I will do my best to answer them personally as soon as I have a moment!
