I’m so excited about the new shirt that my friend made me! I’m going to be my own x-ray signage at events!

|

I’m such a geek! I came up with this really silly idea and my friend Nicole helped me make it happen!

When doing XRF testing for events I am required to have some signage in the room that I am working in.

I usually have signage both in-and-on the XRF case that satisfies the signage I need for nearly all of my testing parties and events – because I usually do all of the testing in a single room (classroom, community room, theater, kitchen – living room – sitting room, whatever works best for the group & depending on how big the group is!)

But since I sometimes (fairly rarely) need to test in more than one room at an event (and especially given I have so many events coming up), AND since I always wear comfy tank tops (and have for the past 15+ years), I decided to wear an X-ray sign on my body (so I don’t have to think about lugging the XRF case and it’s attached signage around with me to different rooms.)

So I messaged my friend Nicole (who makes my Lead Safe Mama t-shirts for y’all) and asked her if she could make me these “Caution X-Ray Equipment” purple tank tops to wear at events!

She custom-made one for me and then express-mailed it to me so I’ll get it by Wednesday, and can start wearing it this week!!! 🙂 She sent me these pictures of it yesterday — I can’t wait to try it on!

Aren’t they great?!

I was thinking some of you might also want one, let me know if you do and I’ll check in with Nicole about how much they might cost! [We were thinking of doing a version with the LeadSafeMama logo on it too, maybe… I’ll work on getting that designed!] My e-mail to send me a note if you are interested in a shirt like this at: TamaraRubin at mac dot com.

Thanks for reading! I’ve gotta get my kicks somewhere – eh? [Like geeky x-ray signage t-shirts!, LOL!] I’m so thankful for all of my friends [like Nicole!] who are so supportive of my work in so many ways!

  1. Thank you for all you do! Question: What about when you bring your XRF into public stores to test products? Doesn’t seem like you have any warnings or signage to alert customers?

    1. Hi Juliana, good question!

We have a sign up just out of sight of the camera – pinned to a bag or propped up on the case or nearby.

  2. Hi Tamara. (Could not get your email address to go through.) Important message as follows:

I purchased their (solid) black ceramic mug from Dollar Tree. Is it lead free and safe to use, especially
to drink hot tea. It is always washed by hand and never put in a microwave.

    Looking forward to your response!!!
    Thank you kindly,

    Sam

    1. Hi Sam – Dollar tree is case by case. I don’t believe I have tested that mug, so cannot make a guess unfortunately. Sorry to not have a better answer. Thank you for commenting.
