Introduction: Tamara Rubin is a independent advocate for consumer goods safety and she is also a mother of Lead-poisoned children. She began testing consumer goods for toxicants in 2009 and was the parent-advocate responsible for finding Lead in the popular fidget spinner toys in 2017. She uses XRF testing (a scientific method used by the Consumer Product Safety Commission) to test consumer goods for contaminants including Lead, Cadmium, Mercury and Arsenic. [bio link]

All readings reported on this blog are science-based, accurate and replicable. Readings are done using a high-precision XRF instrument specifically designed and programmed to test for Lead and other metals in consumer goods. When I look for toxicants in my work (the test results I report on this blog) I am specifically looking for the five most concerning heavy metals (in terms of their impacts on children) that are commonly found in consumer goods – and commonly found in the blood of children today: Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Arsenic & Antimony.
Thank you for reading and for sharing my posts.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions.
