This is Erika’s letter to Pura (to which they responded, here). Erika has agreed to let me share this (and their response to her) with you!
Thanks Erika, for standing up for kids everywhere whose parents have been led to believe they have purchased a safe (and lead-free) product.

Hi Tamara,
I’m wondering if you’ve been able test any Pura Kiki insulated water bottles purchased in 2019. I’m considering buying a hydro flask bottle with straw for my 3 year old but I don’t like that the straw is plastic and am hoping that Pura Kiki has made good on their word to remove the lead solder dot.

Sally,
I have not yet tested a Pura Kiki insulated bottle that was Lead-free.
The issue is also that bottles manufactured in years earlier are still being sold today, so I don’t know how to ensure that I am buying a bottle made this year when I order one on the Internet or have one sent to me for testing.
If Pura Kiki was responsible they would send me a newly made bottle for testing and reporting on (perhaps along with a nice letter for bringing the issue to their attention and a contribution in support of my work! – LOL!)

I’ve been using these with my one year old ugh. Wondering If any more tests have been done recently. I’ll search the site to see if you’ve recommended any other stainless steel bottles.
