This necklace was brought to me in 2013 to be tested. It was being worn by a little girl. It was positive for 8,000 ppm lead in the crystals, 16,000 ppm lead in the clasp and 185,000 ppm lead in the small round metallic beads. The amount of lead that is considered toxic in an item intended for children is anything that is 90 ppm lead or higher.

Do you know if all Waterford Crystal wine glasses contain lead? I received them as a gift when I got married in 2008. I drink from them at least every month for the past 12 years. I also place them in the dishwasher along with the rest of our dishes (including items for my now 4 year old). I had NO idea lead was in them until reading about lead today. I assume lead leaches out in the dishwasher as well? I cannot imagine how much lead I have been exposed to due to this or my child from the cups and dishes he uses that were in the same dishwasher! Any testing on glasses from that time would be appreciated.
Also please know how much I appreciate the work you do here. We need more people like you. I had someone with a lead gun tester come by today to scan for lead in a ceramic pottery decoration I suspected had this which got me thinking further – that is how I discovered your site. I wish I knew all of this a decade ago.
