Vintage Tinker Toy Set #2: 124 ppm Lead in the paper container for this toy. [90 is unsafe in modern toys.]

Vintage Tinker Toys #2
All components tested
Highest reading – 124 ppm lead (fairly low).

The amount of lead considered toxic in a modern/ newly manufactured toy made for children is anything 90 ppm lead or higher.  This toy would be considered just marginally outside of the #LeadSafe range (there are many other vintage toys with much much higher lead levels! – click here for examples).

Here’s a link to at similar modern lead-free version of the toy Amazon*!

  1. Did any of the components inside the paper container (like the plastics and painted wood) test positive for lead ?

    1. I’m wondering the same thing! I found some from 2007 and may test them myself with the recommended tests from Home Depot.

      1. The home test kits do not work on toys. They have a low threshold of detection of 500 ppm, and toys are toxic / unsafe for kids at 90 ppm and higher.
