These are so cool! I really love the glass food storage with the snap lids with silicone sealing bands. I think they are a terrific product type (as long as the writing on the exterior of the jar is not painted with Lead paint… as is the case with these!) I wish they had these when my kiddos were younger, I would have totally used them for baby food storage (especially homemade baby food) and snacks for school.
While in general I don’t like ANY of the OXO products with the black rubberized handles (they often test positive for Lead or Cadmium in the rubberized or silicone components), these little glass food storage cubes seem to test better (across the board) than their other types of products.
Unfortunately recently I have tested way too many baby food jars and baby bottles recently that have been painted with lead paint in the exterior measurement markings and logos, so that is definitely something to be concerned about and look for when shopping for products to use for your baby’s feeding and food preparation.

Thank you for testing this item, and what a relief that it’s free from lead! We have several of these that we use for storing our infant son’s meals, so I was worried that the markings would containing lead (as per your previous testing of Pyrex’s red markings)!

Does this set also have non-detectable levels of Cadmium, Mercury and Arsenic as the rounded food storage containers? Thank you!

Do these also have non-detectable levels of mercury, arsenic, and cadmium as the rounded Oxo food storage containers?
Tamara says
Yes – that’s correct! On my earlier posts I did not always note all of the metals (or lack thereof.)

Hi Tamara, I have these at home and as I’m reading this post it seems you love these but the paint has lead? Sorry does it mean I should not be using these now? Thanks
Tamara says
They are Lead-free and cadmium-free in all components (per the title.)

I just bought these (dec 2020), and the blue is a little different colour. Do you think they are still safe to use as they aren’t the exact year/make you tested?
Tamara says
2020 should be absolutely fine (educated guess).

Please please test more glass storage containers for baby food, popular brands like WeeSprout etc. So many people use glass as a safer alternative to plastic and metal, would love to see more lead safe options. Thanks so much
Tamara says
Wee Sprout often is painted with Lead paint – I would stop using those. You can look up other brands using the search bar.

Thank you so much for testing these and other products! Just heard your talk on the Transforming Toddlers Conference. Really appreciate all of the work and effort you do to make sure our families can stay safe from heavy metal contaminants!

I have a similar comment to someone else’s. I just bought these (in 2023), and the blue is a little different color than the one you recommended. I would have liked to use the same link you provide but that item is unavailable per Amazon. So I opted for the teal instead. ****I have some that I could send for testing as I’m concerned about what I’m offering my baby. ***Would you consider that?
Vince says
I also have the teal one and would like to know. Thanks!
