#XRFTesting: Lead Free Williams Sonoma Veggie Peeler
Veggie Peeler (larger photo below) from Williams Sonoma; 95% Copper!
Most of the veggie peelers I have tested have been lead-free with the following exceptions (which have often tested positive for lead (and/or cadmium) in my experience):
- Vintage plastic handles
- Vintage rubberized handles
- Vintage metal that is grey and dull (not stainless)
- Vintage painted metal handles
In general always steer clear from vintage cookware (outside of cast iron and pieces marked as being sterling silver or stainless and some clear undecorated vintage glass.). Here are some good choices that I would recommend as #LeadSafe / #LeadFree vegetable peelers:
As always, please feel free to ask questions.

Affiliate link disclosure: If you choose to purchase any items after clicking the Amazon links above, Amazon pays me a small kick back as a thank you for sending business their way. It doesn’t cost you anything extra and helps support this website, allowing me to keep sharing information about childhood lead poisoning prevention (as well as making it possible for me to keep sharing about safe products for your home and family) ... Sharing this information in turn helps families everywhere protect their children from potential environmental toxicity in their homes. I only link to products that are the same as (or very similar to) ones that I either have direct personal experience with in my home or that I have personally tested with an XRF Instrument and found to be lead-safe or lead-free. Hello!
This post recommends an OXO peeler, but you have also stated that you avoid OXO products as a rule. Can you please clarify?
Thank you!
I removed the link. It didn’t use to link to an OXO option – Amazon must have substituted the link. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
