#LeadedAccessories: Longchamps coin purse.

Small Longchamps Purse Hardware: Lead = 77 ppm, Mercury = 346 ppm, Gold = 1,644 ppm.

Many of the purses I have tested (both expensive and inexpensive) have tested positive for mercury and / or lead in the hardware.  I haven’t yet found a brand of purse that I recommend as consistently testing free of toxicants (based on the testing I have done personally).  As always, please feel free to ask questions.

Sharing this information in turn helps families everywhere protect their children from potential environmental toxicity in their homes. I only link to products that are the same as (or very similar to) ones that I either have direct personal experience with in my home or that I have personally tested with an XRF Instrument and found to be lead-safe or lead-free. February 2017

  1. Does it matter what color the hardware or charm is on the purse? Are the gold and brass colored metals more contaminated than say, gunmetal or silver color? Thanks! Looking at getting rid of some of my designer purses!!! But want to choose wisely for my next purchase. Would a lead test swab work for me to test purse hardware at home?
