#XRFTesting: Green Sprouts Plastic Sippy Bottle

| | | | |

Green Sprouts Brand Plastic Sippy Bottle:
All Components were “Non-Detect” (negative) for Lead,
Arsenic and Mercury.

Exact items tested are in photo below. All components were tested.

Only the two components with an arrow (in the photo below) pointing to specific results were positive for cadmium. All of the other components tested negative (non-detect) for the following elements: Lead, Mercury, Cadmium and Arsenic.

The level of cadmium found in two of the silicone components tested (on this product) is considered “trace” and is safe by all standards. The current federal hazard level for cadmium in children’s toys is 40 ppm cadmium and above. I have been finding trace cadmium in about 50% of the silicone items I have been testing recently. “Trace” means it is not an added ingredient, but a very small amount that is naturally occurring in the other ingredients of the product.

Check out these two posts about low-level cadmium.
1) Cadmium in silicone of a Pura water bottle.
2) #CadmiumConcerns in general.

Affiliate link disclosure: If you choose to purchase any items after clicking the Amazon links above, Amazon pays me a small kick back as a thank you for sending business their way. It doesn’t cost you anything extra and helps support this website, allowing me to keep sharing information about childhood lead poisoning prevention (as well as making it possible for me to keep sharing about safe products for your home and family) ... Sharing this information in turn helps families everywhere protect their children from potential environmental toxicity in their homes. I only link to products that are the same as (or very similar to) ones that I either have direct personal experience with in my home or that I have personally tested with an XRF Instrument and found to be lead-safe or lead-free. March 2017
