#LeadedKitchen: Emile Henry Bowl & Plate
Newer (2014) Emile Henry plate and bowl: 120-140 ppm lead.
This has likely been leach tested and passed with flying colors. Leach testing is a different methodology for determining lead content than XRF testing. Click links below for more information about testing.

I am totally exhausted searching for new everyday dishware. The claims are just that!! I was so ready to purchase Emile Henry… I am so pleased with myself that I read the above about ‘leach’ testing. Sure fooled me! I don’t want anything fancy… just something that I’ll love plopping food on for many many years. I’ll buy something expensive IF it somehow is truely safe forever for my grand children. Bennington? HFCoors? Now Emile Henry? Are we just being duped when many of us truly want what is safest for our bodies. I’m educated, read alot, research alot, I’m so confused.
Is there an option other than glass? Corelle?
The above companies claim so!!
I need help as I’d like to replace my 25 yr old Pftalzgraf!! Probably loaded with something…
Debra, what did you end up going with?
Have any recent tests been done again with Emile Henry products that were manufactured in 2020 and later?

The biggest impact of our work as it relates to this brand is that they removed the “Lead Free” Stamp from their ceramic molds.
I don’t expect much else has changed. They may be lower lead than they used to be, but I would still stay away from their bright colors due to concern for Cadmium, Cobalt and other toxicants.
