Tuesday

Hi all!

I wanted to give you a quick update on process and legal matters.

Given we are in the middle of what amounts to at least four different legal actions, when new information is needed, new research needs to be done, new documentation needs to be provided, or questions need to be answered in support of these — I have chosen that (in the interest of resolving these legal matters as quickly as possible) we (me personally, and anyone on the Lead Safe Mama Team who might be helping with any projects on a given day), will drop everything and make sure the next steps in the legal action get resolved quickly.

This is how – over the past many months – it ends up that while we “hope” and “plan” and “work towards” publishing a given lab report (or multiple reports) on a given day, that plan often gets derailed! The three promised lab reports for this week will be published asap, I promise!

Derailing us this week:
Over the past week I have received many communications from the US Copyright Office regarding our filings (asking questions about our filings, for clarification – and requesting supporting documentation). I have made it a priority to respond to each of those inquiries immediately upon getting the emails in order to move our copyright filings forward.

Yesterday it then unfolded that we received confirmation of our copyright approval (yippie!) related to one bit of language that is integrated into our published lab reports (on nearly all Lead Safe Mama, LLC lab reports published since March of 2025), and got notice of preliminary copyright approval on a second bit of language that we have been using since May of 2026.

This approval (again, yay!) derailed our entire day yesterday (and today as well) as we are now are preparing the documentation to be used in our legal filing against the Oasis Health app – a filing that will be requesting that statutory damages (as well as other damages most likely) be awarded for their blatant and repeated copyright violations involving Lead Safe Mama, LLC’s published and copyrighted materials.

This is very very exciting (the idea of possibly holding bad actors accountable — finally), and I will keep you posted as soon as I know more. Once we have filed our copyright violation lawsuit it will be public record and I will share the link to the filed paperwork here as well. We’re hoping this will also discourage others (other apps, other websites, other organizations) from engaging in similar actions in the future.

I want to thank everyone who contributed in support of getting these copyrights filed – including my adult kids who (in the end) loaned Lead Safe Mama, LLC the funds on their credit cards so we would be able to pay the (nearly $2,000 in) fees to expedite our the filings we submitted over the past several months.

Not only will having these filed copyrights protect us in the matter with Oasis Health, but they will also protect us in any other matter in which an app or website or organization publishes Lead Safe Mama, LLC’s copyrighted materials (which in most cases — as with the Oasis Health app — is accompanied by the data being misrepresented!) without permission, without request, and without appropriate compensation or consideration.

Our hope is that the outcome of this legal action will generate penalties levied against Oasis Health that will restore our ability to publish 30 or more lab reports each month (as we had been doing in 2025). I do want to add (for those who are new here), we did give Oasis multiple opportunities to discuss and negotiate a fair settlement for their usage of our materials (including offering a licensing fee for ongoing usage). They chose to ignore those offers (we received no response at all).

In the meantime we are still working on a shoestring budget, with all of the expenses noted in yesterday’s update not-yet-covered, and I will take a moment to reiterate that donations (or even a short-term loan to be repaid out of any settlement received), will help keep us going through the winter (during what is otherwise going to be a very austere time – with the work of Lead Safe Mama, LLC continuing to be significantly limited by budgetary constraints).

Thank you for your help to date.

Thank you for considering bumping up your support for the next few months.

Thank you for being part of the Lead Safe Mama community.
