This week we learned which company has been behind the bought-and-paid-for (Blake-Lively-Justin-Baldoni-Linked) digital smear campaign against our work.
This is a campaign of disinformation / misinformation and “tortious interference with business practices” that was implemented with the express intention of disrupting our work so that our published scientific findings (and our business practices and my personal reputation) would be discredited.
We now have solid evidence (a figurative “smoking gun” as it were, but it feels like a literal smoking gun in so many ways) that this smear campaign was orchestrated by MULTI-HUNDRED-MILLION-DOLLAR supplement company that was in the process of a partial buyout of the interest in their business by a BILLION-DOLLAR-ANNUAL-REVENUE “health-focused” conglomerate.
I chose this picture (taken years ago actually) as the key image for this post as it illustrates just one of the feelings I am experiencing right now – sort of a cross between exasperation and outrage. I am also – separately – feeling peace and relief to know we now know the next steps for moving forward here based on this new information.
Over the past couple of days there have been lots of conversations with advisors, attorneys, and journalists. I expect the first related article in the press may – in fact – be published today. When it is published I will share the link here.
Members of my existing legal team have agreed to handle this new portion of our legal matters on a contingency basis — so long as we can get current with our other outstanding bills to them asap.

I want to share one NSFW example of one type of digital attack that was used in an attempt discredit our work and suppress / limit the reach and impact of our website.
The perpetrators of the attacks on our work created porn based backlinks linking to our website — likely hundreds of these links (and possibly more than hundreds!) These webpages “discuss” a pornographic topic and then each has only ONE SINGLE OUTGOING LINK – which is to our home page. The function of this sort of attack was to drive down SEO for our website and also for our website to show up as suspicious when people accessed it through other normal browser channels (flagged as suspicious because it is linked to so many porn sites). These porn backlinks are still live and active today – September 24, 2026. I learned about them first a few months ago — via some work of a team of digital forensic investigators who were also working on the Blake Lively case — and it took a while for me to understand what they were and how they work. On one level while I personally feel very alone (like – “gah! what did I do to deserve this shit, I am just trying to protect kids from Lead exposure, why is this so damn controversial!”), on another level I am so incredibly thankful that I have all of you in our camp, helping Lead Safe Mama, LLC and supporting our work in all the ways (and believing in our work and believing in science too!) Your positive and supportive comments really help too, so please don’t hesitate to share your thoughts in a comment on this post.
I have also expressed to several friends that this whole incident could possibly precipitate Lead Safe Mama, LLC’s “Ralph Nader Seat Belt Moment”.
While many young people may not know the name Ralph Nader nor do they know what he did for public safety in our country — he is a public health and safety advocate whose work was (eventually) responsible for ensuring there are now seat belts in every car (leading to legislation that today makes it illegal to not wear a seat belt). He did this in the face of the auto-industry specifically spreading misinformation alleging that seat belts in cars actually CAUSED injury!
In our case I am very excited about the possibility that this new break in our case represents. Learning who was behind this digitial smear campaign — which is in essence an attempt by a supplement company to cover up the toxicant profile of the products they manufacture – a cover up implemented as a means to facilitate the money grab of the sale of a portion of their company for literally hundreds of millions of dollars to a larger billion dollar company — actually has the potential to shift the public perception of the supplement industry (towards a perception based on an honest narrative vs. a perception crafted and spun by a marketing department!).
I think the circumstances of the case (generally) might possibly — given the current climate of societal upset and shock over all of the public safety related food recalls in recent months — generate the public outrage —and therefore the political will — necessary to actually change laws.
News coverage of this case could (possibly) result in laws being created that might actually ensure (for the very first time) that vitamins and supplements made for consumption by women of childbearing age and by children (as a start) must have “non-detect” results for Lead, Cadmium, Arsenic and Mercury. If this happens, Lead Safe Mama, LLC would advocate that the low thresholds of detection the “Lead Safe Mama, LLC Community Collaborative Laboratory Testing Initiative” has demonstrated are achievable by industry (“Less than 5 ppb” for Lead and Cadmium, “Less than 2 ppb for Mercury”, and “Less than 10 ppb” for Arsenic) serve as the new legal / federal standard.

One reporter I spoke with recently suggested that a reporter who focuses on public health or on consumer goods safety (with either the Washington Post or the New York Times), might like to dig into this story in more detail (including the corruption and deception in the supplement industry that this story demonstrates and exemplifies). I think this could likely be a “Pulitzer” moment for the right journalist!
