Foods We Eat….

Sunday
Hi friends!
In response to the news of the cinnamon recalls over the past couple of days, we re-shared the very short list of food we recommend avoiding (based on testing done through the Lead Safe Mama, LLC Community Collaborative Laboratory Testing Initiative) – which includes cinnamon.
This short list of 14 foods is classes of products or ingredients that consistently test positive for heavy metals (for which we have not found any lab-tested safer choices within the product class). Here’s that list if you have not yet seen it: https://tamararubin.com/2026/05/avoid-these-foods/
Here’s our “cinnamon” category of articles if you haven’t seen those and if you would like to know the toxicant profile of various cinnamon products – there are currently 16 articles in this category: https://tamararubin.com/category/cinnamon/
Whenever we reshare our list of foods we recommend avoiding we hear the refrain (from at least a few people in the peanut gallery on social media) – “but that’s everything I eat!” I briefly addressed that recently in an instagram post also shared on the website here: https://tamararubin.com/2026/09/nothing-left-to-eat/
While we have published probably a dozen or more articles discussing guidelines for making safer choices for your diet (from a heavy metals perspective) AND we talk about safer choices for various products in about 700 of the articles published over the past few years, I decided that we should try a new approach, creating a new graphic to sharing some of this information (as literacy dips, people prefer simple graphics over science-backed articles – and sometimes we just have to cave and comply with this new paradigm!)
The graphic above is a summary of the foods my family eats on a regular basis. All of our choices are made with heavy metals contamination in mind. We have not tested all of these products however the testing and reporting we have done (and the research we have reviewed of testing done by other institutions) informs these choices.
Here are some of the articles we have published about safer choices / strategies for making safer choices / with lists of safer choices:

In case you missed yesterday’s BIG NEWS (discussing evidence uncovered that confirms Hiya Health’s likely involvement in the orchestrated smear campaign designed to discredit our work), or hadn’t yet read our updated version of the story – here’s the latest (with more details) on our website: https://tamararubin.com/2026/09/hiya/
We’re still working on raising funds for our legal team — lawyers who are working on the above case and helping us with other cases as well, so — especially if you are as outraged as we are that a children’s vitamin company created an orchestrated campaign against us in an effort to discredit our science so they could sell a controlling interest in their business to a supplement conglomerate for $205,000,000 — please consider making a one-time contribution to help us pay our outstanding legal bills (or consider bumping up your monthly Patreon support by $1.00 or $2.00 a month if that’s more affordable for you!) Thank you so much!

Note: FYI – funny story – I use my middle name in my signature for the following reason: My son is named Avi Rubin. My husband also has a first cousin named Avi Rubin (Aviel Rubin). Avi has a daughter who is also named Tamara Rubin! So I want to make sure to distinguish that Tamara Rubin from me so hopefully she isn’t too bogged down by having the same name as me. Poor kid!
As Lead Safe Mama, LLC is not a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, contributions in support of our work are not classified as tax-deductible gifts to charity, however they are critical in supporting our work and keeping us doing what we do. Thank you again.

I would like to put out an FYI that over the past years, our family have been buying from a Regenerative Farm in Michigan that ships to your door (it’s not cheap).
