Three new lab tested safer choices: organic massage oil, organic diapering lotion, & a candy from your childhood

We got 15 reports back from the lab on Friday evening and – while we will be working on publishing as many of those as possible in the coming days, I wanted to share with you about three products that tested clean from this round (and for those keeping track, 3/15 is equal to 1/5 is equal to 20% of the products in this round coming back with “non-detect” results for heavy metals across the board. Not bad!

We tested the diapering lotion because we were curious to know the test results after the diaper balm from this same company tested clean (this product: https://amzn.to/4czl249 ). Since it had taken seemingly forever (so many months!) to raise the funds to test and report on their diaper balm, we asked the manufacturer if they would be willing to sponsor our costs of testing and reporting on their diapering lotion (so we could test it quickly), and they agreed to do so! I am excited about this company (their ethical standards as a business and their high standards for the ingredients of their products!)

I chose to test this particular massage oil (linked above) because this is the product my husband uses almost every day when he massages my old broken body before bed. Have I told you recently what an amazing husband I have ?! The 25 year anniversary of our wedding is just 12 days away, 25 years and one month after we met :-). Living with chronic pain (as I do) experiencing a little relief at the end of the day with massage is a key part of my life (something I sorely miss when I am traveling – literally “sorely!”), and while I was fairly certain that my favorite massage oil would test clean, it is nice to have confirmed that bit of information!

This testing and reporting was not funded.

We wanted to test the green apple candy because the State of Florida tested this exact same product and they reported that they found it to test positive for a significant level of Arsenic. Their test results (across the board) did not match ours (for other products that we had previously tested, or products we had tested made by the same manufacturers with the same or similar ingredient profiles), so we decided to test a couple of the products that they had identified as testing positive for significant levels of Arsenic to see how far off their test results were for different product classes.

To be clear: based on scientific testing that we had done to this point, we were fairly certain that the published test results shared by the State of Florida initiative were incorrect — either due to faulty testing methodologies (or possibly due to environmental contamination in the lab they used) or simply due to the people coordinating that initiative using the wrong testing methodologies and equipment. The testing of this candy (which came back with “non-detect” results for Arsenic), re-confirmed that our hunch / educated guess about Florida’s testing was correct.

It’s been a wild week on other fronts too friends.

Sky & Sol has been trying to get EVERY social media platform (including Instagram, Facebook, and Patreon) to take down our articles about the toxicant profile of their sunscreen product (the highest Lead-content sunscreen we have tested and reported on to date!) They are falsely claiming copyright infringement by literally and blatantly falsely claiming that our articles belong to them. Luckily… one of the AMAZING people in our online community is a Copyright Attorney and she is addressing this for us as I write to you, so I hope this series of false attacks will be nipped in the bud fairly quickly — however this morning we received even MORE of these false reports from Sky & Sol’s representatives and in the latest round of attacks attempting to take down our science-backed independent reporting, they have claimed that the content belongs to DISNEY and is a copyright violation of DISNEY material (whoever is orchestrating this for them probably figured that a Disney copyright violation would carry more weight than their previous false copyright claims, claims which their representative has made under oath – BTW!). They are so incredibly desperate!

For “fun” (and also – in a way, to protect ourselves further against these false attacks), we bought some Sky & Sol sunscreen last week (again purchasing it directly from the manufacturer’s website, as we did last year) and will be sending that product off to the lab for a re-test this week!

It appears to be the “season of lawyers” for us this Spring! In addition to the ongoing defamation campaign working to discredit our work, we are also “battling” no fewer than three different apps that are claiming our test results as their own and using our copyrighted material (including using our actual full original lab reports and graphic summaries – lab reports which include my NAME, HOME ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER and more!) in their apps, without our permission, without appropriate attribution (and without having even made an effort our permission!)

Given all of these legal situations (which are being handled for us by no fewer than seven different attorneys at the moment — some pro bono, and some fee-for service), we are currently working to cover a legal bill (sent to us last week) for just under $9,000.00. Today we could use your help with this (more than most days!)
