Lab Test Results are Product Specific, not Brand Specific — Here’s 9 Examples

August 19, 2025

Earlier today we shared a graphic showing comparative test results for every batch of oatmeal product we have tested to date, including FOUR products from One Degree and one Bob’s Red Mill product.

The response to this chart has been… interesting, to say the least.

The most common response we’ve received is, “But I thought you said this brand was good?” This brought me to a clear realization: a key point I communicate quite frequently has not landed with everyone in our readership. The laboratory test results we publish are always specific to the exact product shown in the article and on the lab report. These results are never applicable to an entire brand. This is one reason why we make sure to include detailed images, the precise prodcut name, and a full description in each article accompanying the lab reports.

To drive this point home and help clear up some of the misunderstandings, I created the graphics below and shared them on social media today. There are eight graphics total, including the original we shared earlier with our oatmeal test results. Please scroll down to view them all.

Please feel free to share these on your social media channels if you like (helping us help others understand the context behind this testing).

Lab reports for each of the products in the images below are linked on our Lab Report Landing Page: https://tamararubin.com/lab-reports/

Thank you.
