Everything you need for a Lead-safe/Lead-free coffee and tea experience!

The list below includes products for coffee and tea that tested cleanly, with “non-detect” results for Lead!

Consumables (foods, beverages, tea leaves, coffee beans, etc.) in this list tested clean with third-party, independent laboratory testing (when tested for Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, and Arsenic). The links to the full original lab reports for each product are at the bottom of this post, corresponding to the numbered products below.

Consumer goods listed below, like cups, mugs, and French presses, tested clean (“non-detect” for Lead) with independent XRF testing conducted by members of the Lead Safe Mama, LLC team.

  1. Thank you for what you do!
Any more heat resistant large tumblers for hot coffee? My husband currently uses a ~32 oz stainless steel one, which I recently learned is probably not a very safe option. (Though the bottom doesn’t have a dot; the whole bottom is solid with a seal line about 1/2 inch up from the bottom around the outside.) The glass and cork one in the link wouldn’t really work for him, so not sure what to do.
(And if you have any more large mug suggestions come up beyond the glass, I’d love that, too!)

    1. Unfortunately there are not any great ones that both keep the coffee hot and are safe and large. Look for something glass-lined. Learn more about the stainless steel issue here:

      https://tamararubin.com/2022/08/why-do-some-stainless-steel-cookware-items-have-a-prop-65-warning-isnt-stainless-steel-non-toxic/

We should never store anything acidic (and hot too) in stainless steel for multiple hours.

He may want to get a heavy metals test – and if he tests positive for high levels of Nickel, Chromium, and other ingredients of stainless steel – that would be a way to convince him to stop using something like this for coffee:
