Hello all!
–
Each month (at the beginning of the month) we share this graphic with Lead Safe Mama, LLC’s outreach numbers for the month that just concluded. We do this so you can see the difference you are helping make in terms of what reach and impact this Lead Poisoning Prevention Advocacy and Consumer Goods Safety work has thanks to the Lead Safe Mama community.
–
With one exception (in May 2022, when a State Health Department shared some of our work on social media, sparking a firestorm of activity — lol), May is generally a slower month for reach and readership. People are getting outdoors, coordinating plans for graduations/ or end of the school years, and setting up plans for the summer. In May (historically), fewer people are looking for information about childhood Lead poisoning prevention.
–
Unfortunately, inquires (including readership of our website) tend to pick up near the end of the summer as families get physicals for their kiddos before the start of the school year — physicals which often identify Lead poisoning in kids who have been exposed over the summer*.
–
That said, outside the outlier of May of 2022, May 2024 would be our #BestMayEver with an increase in readership of nearly 22% over May 2023! Thank you for supporting this work in ALL of the ways you do. Thank you especially for sharing the science-based articles from our Lead Safe Mama website (with your communities, friends, and families!)! Please keep sharing, into June and beyond!
–
*Did you know that Lead poisoning is often called “The Summer Disease?” Kids are more often acutely Lead poisoned during the summer (my sons were poisoned in August, 2005) because that is when more major home renovations are scheduled — home renovations that (if completed on pre-1978 homes) are more likely to poison the children living there.
–
If you have plans to renovate your home this summer (or any time!), please watch the documentary film I directed and produced BEFORE you even give a deposit to you contractor. It will help you protect your children.
–
Thank you for taking the time.
–
Thank you for being part of this movement.

Found your site a yr ago & was able thru your amazon store to replace bowls, dishes & cups. There are other daily items I could not find to replace the leaded items.. . I live alone as many elderly people do & need 1 or 2 pots.A ( not a set) 1 8″ or 9″ flat pie plate for the toaster oven, baking fish & browning almonds. Egg cups for boiled eggs. What about lead free toaster oven or silver ware . Your site is great for a family but what about the women who live alone?
