- Since 2009, Tamara has been using XRF technology (a scientific testing method) using the exact instrumentation employed by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to test consumer goods for toxicants (specifically heavy metals — including Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Antimony, and Arsenic).
- Since July of 2022, the work of Lead Safe Mama, LLC has been responsible for 5 product recalls (FDA and CPSC).
- All test results reported on this website are science-based, accurate, and replicable.
- Items that Lead Safe Mama, LLC reports on are tested multiple times to confirm the results published (for each component tested).

Article 2 of 3 With Test Results for Ahimsa Products
We’re thrilled to share with you (Lead Safe Mama, LLC’s readers and community members) that we invited Ahimsa to become an affiliated partner of Lead Safe Mama, LLC.
Ahimsa is only our THIRD official affiliate corporate partner (joining Solidteknics and Naturepedic in supporting our work). We have very strict guidelines for who we invite to collaborate in this way, which is why — since our founding as an independent LLC (in January of 2018) — we have only invited three manufacturers to officially join us as affiliate partners! We invited Ahimsa to become an affiliate partner this month only after extensively testing all of their stainless steel product finishes (all three colors of finish — blue, classic, and rainbow — on their stainless Mindful Mealtime children’s dishes) and determining that their products meet the strictest standards* for items intended for use by children (and all humans!).
*Here at Lead Safe Mama, LLC, rather than simply being satisfied with any product manufacturer’s claims that their offerings meet current relevant regulatory standards (or claims that their product is “non-toxic” or “safe”), we conduct independent XRF testing capable of detecting and quantifying the presence (i.e. actual “total content” — down to single digit parts per million, ppm) of any Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Antimony, and/or Arsenic.
Ahimsa’s children’s dishes (we tested all three of their color variations) all tested negative for Lead, Cadmium, Arsenic, Mercury, and Antimony using XRF technology. As a result, we feel these stainless dishes are a great option for children’s dishes — especially given nearly all of the silicone options available for children’s dishes that we have tested have been positive for “trace”* levels of Cadmium (a known carcinogen). *Note: “Trace” in this case means levels typically in the range of 15 to 40 ppm Cadmium, which is considered “safe by all current relevant standards,” but is not negative.
Lead Safe Mama Discount Code!
In collaborating with Ahimsa, we are thrilled to share that they are offering a discount of 15% for Lead Safe Mama readers when you start any shopping on their site with our affiliate link (https://shrsl.com/4cjh8) and use the code “LeadSafeMama” upon checkout.
When you shop at Ahimsa using the Lead Safe Mama affiliate link (making the purchase directly through their website, not via Amazon), they will also contribute 18% of what you spend back to Lead Safe Mama, LLC in support of our programs for Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention and Consumer Goods Safety — making it possible for us to continue our work bringing free consumer goods testing and outreach events to communities across the United States and beyond.
Thank you so much for supporting our work in this way — and for supporting a company doing their best to make safer products for children. Without further ado, below are the full test results for the “Iridescent-Blue” set of Ahimsa stainless dishes pictured (we are publishing three articles — one for each of their three finishes — with full XRF test results). You will be able to find all three articles by clicking this link (once they are all published).

*Titanium (the elemental metal, not Titanium Dioxide) is deposited on the dish to create the colored finish.
Here’s a link to the article with full test results for Ahimsa “Mindful Mealtime” dish set with their “Classic” plain stainless steel finish.
Note: The primary “ingredients” of 304 stainless steel (which is the stainless steel that makes up most cookware and kitchenware) are Nickel, Chromium, and Iron.
A big “Thank You” to Ahimsa for partnering in supporting the Lead Safe Mama worldwide community by offering our readers a discount and by contributing 18% back to help fund Lead Safe Mama, LLC’s programs!
Note: My children are older now (15, 18, 21 and 27!), so I do want to emphasize that while my kids did really love trying these dishes out, these dishes are are really sized for young kids’ smaller hands (although the dish and bowl are still perfect for bigger picky eaters — especially kiddos like mine [with Autism, or other similar diagnoses, including Sensory Processing Disorder/SPD] who prefer to keep their food-types separate)! My youngest two (Charlie and Avi) especially liked the feel and slick finish of these dishes, and specifically, the way the fork and spoon feel… even though they were a bit small for my giant man-sized teenagers!

So glad to finally have these results! We’ve had the classic finish for about a year and they are still holding up great! I put them through the dishwasher and have zero rust spots. It’s definitely not cheap, but after saving up for them they are totally worth it. If I have to make another purchase, I’ll definitely use your code!
