For those new to this website:
Tamara Rubin is a multiple-federal-award-winning independent advocate for childhood Lead poisoning prevention and consumer goods safety, and a documentary filmmaker. She is also a mother of Lead-poisoned children (two of her sons were acutely Lead-poisoned in 2005). Since 2009, Tamara has been using XRF technology (a scientific method used by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission) to test consumer goods for toxicants (specifically heavy metals — including Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Antimony, and Arsenic). All test results reported on this website are science-based, accurate, and replicable. Items are tested multiple times to confirm the test results for each component tested. Tamara’s work was featured in Consumer Reports Magazine in February of 2023 (March 2023 print edition).

I created this post as a bit of an experiment (part 3 of this experiment, which started last month when Lead Safe Mama readers said they wanted to see more of this) to see if it might boost our Amazon affiliate income by promoting a post like this to Lead Safe Mama, LLC’s readership and their friends on Facebook.

Each month we work super-hard to raise $ to help cover the cost of the legal team we have in place. Due to the nature of our work, like calling companies out for making Lead-contaminated products, having a strong and competent legal team in place and being in a position to pay these amazing people is key. Our legal bills due this month (April 2023) are over $10,200.

I am uploading and promoting this post on Saturday, April 1st — paying $25 a day to Facebook, ensuring people see it. The other day we earned $212.10 from Lead Safe Mama’s readers clicking our Amazon Affiliate links before they started shopping on Amazon; if we end up earning more via Amazon this month than we might have otherwise earned (after deducting the cost to pay for promoting this and other similar posts), we will continue this as a monthly (or possibly even weekly!) ad — with different Lead-free selections each time. Each of the selections linked above was available when we chose the link today, but please realize that when we share about products, they often sell out, so they may not be available for the entire duration of this post.

Please note: You don’t need to purchase any of the items that we link to in order for us to earn a percentage of what you spend (at no extra cost to you); if you just start any of your Amazon shopping by clicking on a Lead Safe Mama, LLC affiliate link (no matter what you are planning to buy) we may earn a percentage of whatever you spend (typically it is in the range of 2 to 4%) in support of our work here, which includes independent consumer goods testing and childhood Lead poisoning prevention advocacy work! So, please think of this when you are about to buy your monthly essentials (shampoo? Toilet paper? Laundry detergent?) or make other purchases on Amazon (birthday presents? Holiday gifts? Groceries?) — just click one of our links before continuing your Amazon shopping as you normally would. Thank you!!

For those who are new here and who may question the legitimacy of our work (and specifically the legitimacy of the independent consumer goods testing that we do), here’s a link to the February 2023 Consumer Reports Magazine article featuring our work: https://www.consumerreports.org/toxic-chemicals-substances/the-power-of-citizen-science-a1450367401/.

You can also check out our website (were we share full XRF test results for thousands of products), by starting with our website menu — where you can explore many of the testing categories we have established (from dishes to toys to tools to furniture): https://tamararubin.com/website-menu/.

This article is from April 2023, and I was wondering if you think the flashlight is still safe for kids at this time
