Introduction (for those new to this website):
Tamara Rubin is a Federal-award-winning independent advocate for consumer goods safety and a documentary filmmaker. She is also a mother of Lead-poisoned children, her sons were acutely Lead-poisoned in 2005. Since 2009 Tamara has been using XRF testing (a scientific method used by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission) to test consumer goods for toxicants (specifically heavy metals), including Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Antimony, and Arsenic. All test results reported on this website are science-based, accurate, and replicable. Items are tested multiple times, to confirm the test results for each component tested. Tamara’s work was featured in Consumer Reports Magazine in February of 2023.

Posted on Facebook as a Paid/Promoted Post (a new idea for income generation for Lead Safe Mama, LLC to help cover all costs related to the legal team supporting this work).
The following links are Lead Safe Mama, LLC’s Amazon Affiliate links for the products pictured on the graphic (more info below):

I created this post as a bit of an experiment (the second part of a series I started a few days ago because Lead Safe Mama readers asked for a “Part 2!!!”). The goal is to see if promoting a post like this to Lead Safe Mama, LLC’s readership and their friends on Facebook might boost our Amazon affiliate income. Each month we work super hard to raise $$$ to help cover the cost of the legal team we have in place, due to the nature of the work we do. Our upcoming April 2023 legal bills are over $10,000. Having a strong legal team in place and being in a position to pay these amazing people is key when a lot of what we do is calling out companies for selling Lead-contaminated products.
I am posting and promoting this post on Thursday, March 23. Yesterday we earned $319.32 from Lead Safe Mama’s readers clicking our Amazon Affiliate links before they started shopping on Amazon; if we end up earning more via Amazon this month than we might have otherwise earned (after deducting the cost to pay for promoting this post), we will make this a monthly ad — with different Lead-free selections each month.

Please note: You don’t need to purchase any of the items that we link to in order for us to earn a percentage of what you spend (at no extra cost to you); if you just start any of your Amazon shopping by clicking on a Lead Safe Mama, LLC affiliate link (no matter what you are planning to buy) we may earn a percentage of whatever you spend (typically it is in the range of two to four percent)! Please think of this when you are about to buy your monthly essentials, (shampoo? toilet paper? laundry detergent?) or make other purchases on Amazon (birthday presents? holiday gifts? groceries?) … just click one of our links and continue your Amazon shopping as you normally would. Thank you!!

For those who are new here and who may question the legitimacy of our work, and specifically the legitimacy of the independent consumer goods testing we do, here’s a link to the February 2023 Consumer Reports Magazine article featuring our work.

You can also check out our website (where we share full XRF test results for thousands of products), by starting with our Website Menu where you can explore many of the categories for testing we have done (from dishes to toys to tools to furniture).

Thank you! It’s a great idea. I need to buy a few things. Is there any other cutting boards that you recommend? The one I see in this post is way out of my budget. I was just wondering if you have tested and recommend any other cutting board. A little one would be just fine. I understand the one in this article looks really good. But unfortunately not in my budget. Thank you again. I would love to see recommendations monthly. So I hope this post works to help you with the legal team costs.

I really want to support you and have bought products over the years based on your recommendations. Is there any way you could get a slice of the pie if I don’t order from Amazon? I just have a hard time ordering from them for a multitude of reasons. thank you for your amazing work!

I was interested in buying the Germanikure nail clipper…went to their site and noticed they also manufacture/sell Crystal Nail Files….isn’t that another term for “leaded glass”? They mention Behemian Cyrstal. I’d imagine, if leaded, that’s not a good idea to use since it would be etched/roughed up, perhaps even worse than drinking from a smooth crystal wine glass. Yikes….thought you might like to know 🙂

I would love to know about glass nail files as well!
Also, a toaster oven would be great!

Hi:
What oil/wax do you use to keep your wood cutting board in good shape?
