Q. Which stand mixers are Lead-free? A. I have no idea! Will you help me find out?

Tuesday – February 7, 2023

I would like to buy these four (now updated to five) stand mixers (images and links above and below) to test. If you think I should test a different brand or example, please let me know. Below is a list of the affiliate links for each of these so you can find them on Amazon and read the different features.

If you would like to chip in to help buy these you can Venmo me $ @ TamaraERubin (four digits: 3182) and please put “Stand mixer purchase” in your comments and I will report back here with updates on $ raised to purchase these.

As of this moment – 11:28 a.m. PST – 2/8/2023 – Wednesday:
$50.00 has been raised towards this effort

If any of them tests clean I will do a free raffle to give them away (because I do NOT need these sitting around in my storage unit and will not personally be using them – lol – as a mother of disabled kiddos I have almost zero time for baking/cooking!) My dance card is really full but if I can raise enough to purchase these this month I will test them and report the results in March after I am caught up with my other testing (stuff folks have sent in and stuff I have bought / collected over the past 6 months or so.)

If there is a brand or model you think I should test and it is not in this group, please let me know and I will look into it and add it to the list:

1. Instant Brands (aka “Evil Empire”) https://amzn.to/3HJQyvz
2. GE: https://amzn.to/3YzFrvU
3. Cuisinart: https://amzn.to/3XjkSTn
4. Hamilton Beach: https://amzn.to/3XbZBLC
5. Just added based on reader requests (I don’t understand how this qualifies as a stand mixer – but ok!), Bosch: https://amzn.to/3RIB1k7

Amazon links are affiliate links. If you purchase something (anything) after clicking on the link I share – Lead Safe Mama, LLC may receive a percentage of what you spend at no extra cost to you. You do not need to buy what I link to for us to receive a percentage of what you spend. We earned $260.98 from your amazon link clicks yesterday! One of our best days ever! Thank you.

  1. My Bosch mixer is older and the middle, metal part of the dough mixer is a different metal than the stainless steel arms and is very suspicious to me. I’m not sure if they’ve changed it, it looks different in the pictures of the machine in Amazon!!

    1. Alex, I have an older Bosch as well (as does my mother and mother in law). I know what you mean, honestly, I’d be surprised if that part didn’t test positive for bad stuff, it does seem awfully suspect. That piece, plus the metal post in the middle of the bowl the attachments go on…

    1. A copy of an email from Ankararum US:

Thank you for your interest in the Ankarsrum mixer. In answer to your question, – Yes, everything is lead free.

      Happy baking regards

  2. Good morning! I’m wondering if you’ve tested any handheld mixers? I’ve tried searching the site but didn’t come up with anything. I got rid of my KitchenAid mixer after a very short and suspicious stint using it. I would like to replace my old handheld but I really don’t want to purchase anything just as bad. I think it’s one of the last things that I’m not sure of besides my Ninja Blender.

  3. Hello!
I am curious to know why you wrote ” Instant Brands (aka “Evil Empire”)”.
    Is it a critique?
    Thank youSonia

    1. They sell Lead-contaminated products, they bought a company (Corelle) with a history of selling Lead-contaminated products, and then they issued a public statement denying responsibility for their lead-contaminated history of products (and trying to make excuses for this.)

      1. Before this chocoholic Mama discovered she’s been gorging on LEAD for decades/or who knows how long, I was buying Corelle dinnerware. I have the VITRELLE series & you have another post showing a deep Vitrelle bowl that past the Lead test/made me smile BIGLY! So Corelle does so some Current dishes OK. These bought in 2019 I think. Thanks for all you do. I am a Disciple now & spending through your links when upgrading to Lead Free.

  4. I’m looking for the follow up to this testing, if it has happened yet. Or any similar article with recommended or tested stand mixers. Thank you kindly.

  5. Hello Tamara! I want to start by saying thank you for the amazing work you do! Everything I’ve learned here has helped improve my chronic illness & pain so much. I’m going to be in the market for a stand mixer as i have to make baked goods from scratch and cook from scratch as much as possible but many times my pain gets in the way of kneading & mixing. I know this is a huge project, and it hasnt been super long since you posted, but I was curious if you had an update on this by chance? [since KitchenAid is no good haha 🙁 ]. Thanks again!!!

  6. Hi Tamara, did you test the instant mixer? It’s only brand that use stainless steel Whisk,Dough Hook and Mixing Paddle other than coated ones, which maybe the best bet. Did you test any choppers such as Bear brand or any meat grinder? Thank you
