January 30, 2023 – Monday
Hey all – Good Morning!
As many of you know, Lead Safe Mama, LLC is a woman-owned small business focused on consumer goods safety (including independent, unbiased, uninfluenced consumer goods testing) and childhood Lead-poisoning prevention (and the intersection of those two things)!
We are a unique business — in that all of our work is “community-collaborative” – what this means is that the Lead Safe Mama readership directly influences what we test / report on / write about and they – you – also help to cover the costs of what we do here.
Until this work is fully self-sustaining (until all of the costs of the work we do here are covered by the income we earn as a result of the work we do), we will continue to periodically ask for your financial support. Other writers / advocates / activists / creators, etc. often have a Patreon account or similar. We don’t subscribe to that model of funding — as we feel it is essential to keep all of the information we provide free of charge / freely available to the public — not behind a paywall, and accessible only to some). To this end, we periodically let you know when we have an operating shortfall for the month (or specific expenses we need to cover) and need your support.
This month (January 2023) Lead Safe Mama, LLC currently has a short-term operating shortfall -today – of $106.15 that we are looking to cover [and at the close of the month / end of the day tomorrow that number will be closer to $785.00]. In addition to that, we have payments of about $3,500 to Lead Safe Mama legal team members coming due next week (“on or before 2/6/23”)
If you are in a position to chip-in, in support of this work today (if you have benefitted from this work at all this month and have some extra you can spare without causing hardship to your family) please do chip-in.
Contributions in any amount are always welcome (and helpful!). While the majority of contributions in support of this work are in the range of $25 to $100, you might even consider just contributing the amount you would have spent on that venti chai latte you otherwise would have bought for yourself this week (if a bunch of people each contributed $4.95 – that would add up very quickly to help us meet our shortfalls!).
Note: we are NOT a nonprofit, so contributions are NOT tax-deductible – they are – however – greatly appreciated as they help keep this work going!
