I have Royal Doulton English Renaissance China. Is there lead in it?
Hello,
I have royal doulton Counterpoint and royal Albert golden glory . Do they have lead in their paint?
I tested my Royal Doulton Carlyle china back in 2019. My test results showed no lead. Perhaps I need to retest with a more reliable kit. Can you recommend a lead test we can order and use at home? I live in Canada.
In 1983 we chose Royal Doulton Carlyle China as our wedding China. We have 16 sets of 7pc. place settings, along with the soup tureen, platters, serving bowls, gravy bowl and tea set. All at a very significant cost. Especially, for a young couple just starting out. Now I’m terrified to use it or pass it down based on your findings.
How did they get away with manufacturing a product they clearly had to know was harmful to users?? The dangers of lead isn’t something new. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, research focused on the psychological and neurological effects of even low-level lead exposure. In the past Lead was recognized as toxic as early as the 2nd century BC, with physicians like Nicander of Colophon describing the effects of lead poisoning. Ancient Romans were also aware of lead’s toxicity, with Pliny the Elder noting the dangers of white lead powder used in cosmetics.
As have it, your testing also revealed high levels of Mercury as well!
I feel Royal Doulton show be made responsible for making purchasers of their products financially whole as those of us who purchased in the early 1980’s were never made aware that there’s high levels of lead and mercury in it that would cause contamination at the cost of our health.
