All I want for Christmas…
I have to start by saying this is an incredibly difficult holiday for me (as I am certain it is for many people for many different reasons.) For me, tomorrow would have been my mother’s 79th birthday. I still cannot believe she is gone (5-1/2 years later) and we will, to the best of our ability, spend tomorrow honoring her memory and celebrating her life.
On top of this being a time of grieving for my family, my two eldest sons are 3,000 miles away and each is fighting COVID-19. It’s painful to be this far away from them and to only be able to offer support in the form of guidance, chats on the phone and grocery deliveries. I am sure they will each pull through ok and I am happy they are vaccinated (so their illness is not as severe as it might have been) and I am happy that they have each other.
In addition to wishing for my children’s health (which is at the forefront of my mind right now), the only thing I really “want” for Christmas is for the Lead-in-baby bottle issue to go viral. I do not want it to go viral for “fortune” or “fame,” but to generate the change we need for the future. Parents should not be able to (unknowingly) buy Lead painted baby bottles off of Amazon in 2021.
To facilitate getting as many eyes on this issue as possible I wrote the above linked simplified/ fact-based/ science-based post (load the images for this email if you have not yet) and I added some HTML to that post to remove any and all advertisements and distracting popups. This means Lead Safe Mama, LLC is not earning a PENNY from sharing this baby bottle overview piece! PLEASE (if you have not yet) read this post (click the image at the top of the page). Please share it with friends and family. Please familiarize yourself with the brands and styles of baby bottles that have tested positive for Lead (this year and in recent years) and bring that information with you to any family gatherings where there may be bottle-fed babies. Inform the young parents in your life — if no-one else.
Besides honoring my mother’s birthday, we do not celebrate Christmas (we are Jewish) so I will be spending as much time as possible over the next 48 hours enjoying the relative quiet and catching up on my writing. Please check out the latest Lead Safe Mama article (click the image below) … especially if you know anyone who sells or wears Paparazzi brand jewelry. In that piece, I am offering to test more examples of their products free-of-charge if anyone would like to send some in to me for testing (and reporting on the website).
Thank you — as always — for being here. Thank you for being part of the movement for consumer goods safety and childhood Lead poisoning prevention. Have a good (and hopefully peaceful, COVID-19-free) holiday tomorrow.
Tamara
