Rates subject to change
To help make my in-person services more accessible to families around the country, I have designated pre-set “travel months” (Normally January, April, and October) each year – when I “cluster “home consultations and small community events geographically, to help share travel costs (and to make it more feasible for families across the country to be able to afford a personal consultation with me).
Outside of these pre-set travel months, normal individual Lead Safe Mama, LLC consultation day rates in the United States are as follows:
- $2,000 per day [includes an in-person consultation – normally 3 to 4 hours in length, 3-hours minimum and 4-hours maximum]
- + $1,500 per travel day
- Travel day fees cover time for travel, flights, lodging, ground transportation, meals, etc.
- Travel days are normally calculated with Portland, Oregon as my starting destination.
This works out to between $3,500 and $5,000 for a consult, depending on how many days of travel are required (one, or two) — for California or Colorado consultations, typically one travel day is required. For other (non-U.S.-West-Coast) locations, typically two travel days are required. For non-U.S. destinations, travel rates and flat-fee day rates (for days worked) will be agreed upon on a case-by-case basis, correlated to the actual cost of travel (and taking into account any permitting required to work in a country outside of the United States). $2000 per day, plus travel costs is my “short-notice” travel rate, essentially – if someone wants me to fly out from Oregon whenever, to wherever – and does not wish to (or is unable to) wait for one of my “consolidated travel” months. [All rates are discussed on this linked page.]
How things work during designated “travel months” (normally January, April, and October) each year:
- During pre-set travel months I plan in advance and cluster one-on-one home consultations and other small community events* close together (both geographically and temporally!) to help make things more affordable for families and small community groups – so the travel costs are shared across many consultations or events. The day-rate is $2,000, but no separate travel-costs are charged – with advance booking. [*small community events have different pricing than personal or business consultations.]
- For all consultations during travel months there is a minimum 3-hour commitment. I cannot efficiently do a home consultation in less than 3-hours time, especially if we are looking for as-of-yet undiscovered potential sources of toxicant exposure [Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Arsenic, Antimony, Tin, Nickel, etc.] for the family. And, given the inherent typical intensity of these home consultations [which are very information-dense (they’re really like a personalized one-on-one class), there is a practical 4-hour maximum per visit.
- If you book early [when the schedule for a travel month first opens up, and before the travel path is determined and before initial flights are booked – normally two-to-three months before the month in question], you can be added to the schedule at the flat $2,000 fee, and the trip will be built around your location as a primary location.
- To reiterate: there is normally no separate charge for travel during pre-set travel months with advance booking. [The first people to book determine the route that will be traveled for that travel month – at which time flights are purchased and other reservations / plans are made.]
- For folks who book later – After the primary locations have been mapped out & set for the month and our flights have been booked, reservations made, and the schedule planned – additional travel costs may apply (in addition to the $2,000 flat fee for a 3-to-4 hour consultation) — depending on your distance from the pre-planned locations.

“But this is so expensive!”
While we understand the cost may seem out of reach for many families, at this time the global, completely-independent advocacy work of Lead Safe Mama, LLC is in point of fact still not profitable yet, and consequently, we cannot afford to subsidize the costs any more than we already do. We anticipate reaching reasonable profitability after our civil rights legal battle is over – likely at some point next year (when we will no longer have such high legal costs in support of this work (and when we also will no longer have high XRF-related costs!) — at which point we do hope to be able to further subsidize work for lower-income families, as we have always done whenever possible.
In the meantime, if you cannot afford a one-on-one consultation, but are interested in participating in the work, this website is a free available resource (with thousands of pages of information), and you may also want to keep your eyes open (sign up for our newsletter here) for some of our public community events, normally sponsored by (and hosted by) local health departments, educational institutions, hospitals, etc. with participation for the public offered free of charge. I also can do remote Zoom consultations at a lower hourly fee.
If you want to discuss the possibility of your local or health department (or hospital, or college) sponsoring a free public event, please be in touch. Here’s an overview of elements that might be included in those events: link.
As always, please let me know if you have any additional questions.
