Rates are subject to change.
To help make my in-person services more accessible to families around the country, I have designated pre-set “travel months” (normally January, May, and October) each year (and also sometimes in the summer months)— when I “cluster “home consultations and small community events geographically, to help share travel costs (and make it more feasible for families and communities across the country to be able to afford personal consultations with me).
Outside of these pre-set travel months, normal individual Lead Safe Mama, LLC consultation day rates in the United States are as follows:
- $3,000 per day
- includes filing permits and XRF instrument registration fees in your area
- includes one in-person consultation
- consultations are normally 3 to 4 hours in length
- 3 hours minimum, and 4 hours maximum
- $1,500 per travel day
- Travel day fees cover:
- time for travel
- flights
- lodging
- ground transportation
- meals,
- etc.
- Travel days are normally calculated with Portland, Oregon as my starting destination.
- Travel day fees cover:
This normally works out to between $3,000 and $6,000 for an in-person consultation in the United States depending on how many days of travel are required (zero, one, or two):
- For California, Colorado, or Seattle-area consultations (and other West Coast locations) – for example, typically one travel day is required.
- For other (U.S. Non-West-Coast) locations (New York, Boston, Chicago, etc,), typically two travel days are required.
- For non-U.S. destinations, travel rates and flat-fee day rates (for days worked) will be agreed upon on a case-by-case basis.
- Non-U.S. In-Person Consultation Rates will be set with travel-day rates to include to the actual cost of travel / travel time
- Non-U.S. In-Person Consultation Rates will also take into account any permits required to work in a country outside of the United States.
- Our “Short-notice” travel rate (in the United States), essentially — if someone wants me to fly out from Oregon whenever to wherever and does not wish to (or is unable to) wait for one of my “consolidated travel” months start at $5,000 per consultation day plus travel day charges.
How things work during designated “travel months” (normally January, May, and October) each year:
- During pre-set travel months we plan our travel in advance and cluster one-on-one home consultations and other small community events* close together (both geographically and temporally!) to help make things more affordable for families and small community groups — no separate travel day cost is charged during these pre-set travel months. The daily rate is $3,000. Advance booking is required (typically 30 to 60 days advance booking).
- Note: small community events have different pricing than personal or business consultations).
- For all consultations during travel months, there is a minimum 3-hour commitment. I cannot efficiently do a home consultation in less than 3-hours time, especially if we are looking for as-of-yet undiscovered potential sources of toxicant exposure (Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Arsenic, Antimony, Tin, Nickel, etc.) for the family. And, given the inherent typical intensity of these home consultations, which are very information-dense (they’re really like a personalized one-on-one class), there is a practical 4-hour maximum per visit.
- If you book early (when the schedule for a travel month first opens up, before the travel path is determined, and before initial flights are booked — normally two-to-three months before the month in question), you can be added to the schedule at the flat $3,000 fee, and the trip will be built around your location as a primary location.
- To reiterate: There is no separate charge for travel during pre-set travel months with advance booking. (The first people to book determine the route that will be traveled for that month — at which time flights are purchased and other reservations/plans are established.)
- For folks who book later, after the primary locations have been mapped out and set for the month and our flights have been booked, reservations made, and the schedule planned — additional travel costs may apply (in addition to the $3,000 flat fee for a 3-to-4 hour consultation), depending on your distance from the pre-planned locations.

“But this is so expensive!”
While we understand the cost may seem out of reach for many families, at this time the global, completely independent advocacy work of Lead Safe Mama, LLC is, still not yet profitable — and consequently, we cannot afford to subsidize the costs of our outreach work any more than we already do.
In the meantime, if you cannot afford a one-on-one consultation, but are interested in participating in the work, this website is a free available resource (with thousands of pages of information), and you may also want to keep your eyes open (sign up for our newsletter here) for some of our public community events, normally sponsored by (and hosted by) local health departments, educational institutions, hospitals, etc. with participation for the public offered free of charge. I also can do remote Zoom consultations at a lower hourly fee.
If you want to discuss the possibility of your local health department (hospital, or college) sponsoring a free public event, please be in touch. Here’s an overview of elements that might be included in those events: link.
As always, please let me know if you have any additional questions.
